Dh's cousin had her first baby about two months ago and is due to return to work soon. She has been nursing but probably not exclusively. I was talking to MIL the other day and she said cousin was weaning because she has to go back to work and it will be more trouble than it is worth. : Anyhow, cousin and I are friendly but not particularly close, we only see each other about 4 times a year. I deally I would like to be able to talk to her in semi privacy tomorrow and let her know that even if she does formula during the day while her dd is in day care she can still nurse her at nights and on the weekends. I don't want to seem preachy or anything to her though. Please give me some words of wisdom I can pass along so this sweet baby can still get some breastmilk!

I think you know what to say. You just have to strike a casual tone... emphasize the normalacy."Wean? You don't have to! Tons of women nurse part time. Actually, a lot of very important women pump at work, too... but you should try it both ways and see what works for you."

"Hey, I hear you are going back to work! This book, Nursing Mother Working Mother, helped my friend a lot."

You can give it to her: it's cheap on half.com.
