Thought I'd try to get a Frederick string going, as well. I only have a 4-month-old, but we try to get out of the house as often as possible for mommy's sake <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">. Some of the things we do:<br><br>
-Babies with books at the Frederick County Library<br>
-Walks/runs in Baker Park<br>
-Visits to local farms (SM Creamery so far; planning more)<br>
-Hoping to visit some local galleries<br>
-Ice cream (for mommy) and play (for DS) at Market Street Cafe<br><br>
Looking for more ideas!

We tend to be so busy with friends & NINO & such that we don't go looking for things to do very often LOL, but . . .<br><br>
- We like Ballenger Creek Park for a playground<br><br>
- It occurs to me that my girls might find the River Walk really interesting now that they're old enough to not jump IN the "river" LOL<br><br>
- Just to add to your South Mountain Creamery suggestion, if anyone doesn't know, if you're there at 4pm you can help feed the calves. And they have cute TINY "kiddie cones" of ice cream in their store for I think $0.50 (it's been awhile since we've been there) that are fun cuz even little kids get "their own cone" w/o having way more ice cream than I wanted my 2 yr olds to have <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> (something tells me now (they're 4) they're going to think the kiddie cones are too small though, we shall see LOL.<br><br>
- We also REALLY like the Catoctin Zoo. Last summer we bought season passes for the girls & I, and in addition to a couple planned trips (w/ my parents, and with a friend with kids around my kids' age) it's close enough to us that we can go for a few hours on a whim. The girls LOVE feeding the goats & such & it's nice & shaded & usually not very busy.<br><br>
- Last summer the girls really enjoyed going to teh farmer's market with me as well, we usually made abit of a "treat" out of it & would get a cookie or something to share, plus they helped me choose what veggies & fruits we wanted and such.

I second the BC park for playdates, if you keep an eye out on this forum every now and then you will see it suggested <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">
