<p>I haven't really spent a lot of time worrying about taking an unvaccinated baby out in public. Do you limit what you do before your baby has gotten any doses? What about before they are fully vaxxed? I just thought of it because there is apparently a mumps outbreak at the university, and it dawned on me that our church IS on campus and I DO have this little guy who is too young to be vaccinated. If I were more paranoid I'd probably keep him in, but ... idk. I mean, whenever I take him somewhere I mostly wear him and people typically aren't slobbering all over us, and he's too young to be sharing toys with a kid who might have been exposed to something.  Big sis goes to preschool, but she's been vaxed. </p>

<p>(Plus, if I don't go out at least a little, I'll lose my ever-loving mind cooped up indoors in winter with a baby and a toddler. So there's that.)</p>

<p>I don't worry too much about it. I think they are getting lots of good immunity from nursing, I babywear, and I figure my kindergartner is bringing everything home anyway.... but if there was a major outbreak of something locally I might be extra cautious.</p>

I would wear baby rather than use a pushchair to keep people from getting too close. But otherwise not worry too much. Especially if you're bf and so sharing your antibodies. <img alt="smile.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.mothering.com/images/smilies/smile.gif">

<p>What with babywearing I have taken him everywhere with me and only had one or two people outside the family hold him. If he's on me mostly people don't ask. I took him to a book group last night and when we were leaving the hostess expressed dismay that she hadn't gotten to hold him. I said he was really too young to pass around, and she seemed to understand. Once he's a little older he'll like it better anyway. </p>
