My dh is taking the boys camping from Friday until Sunday. That means I get roughly 48 hours all to myself!

This is both exciting and scary, as I've had one night (out of town, spent at a friend's house) without my children, and that was 5 years ago. Other than that, dh and I had a night in a beautiful suite when we got married nine years ago. We left DS1 with my parents for about 12 hours.

I have NO idea what I'm going to do with myself! I've been a SAHM for nearly a decade and spend most of my waking hours with my boys. I know I'm going to miss them, but at 31 weeks pregnant I could also use the time to rest, do some shopping, eat a nice restaurant and just relax. It's going to be a good while before we get any more child-free time, with a baby on the way. I don't crave lengthly separation from my children, but I'm not going to turn it down right now, either

Have you had any time away in the last little while? What did you/would you do?

I would be so thrilled! I don't think I would seek it out, but if it happened I wouldn't complain! I love my family, I just have dozens of little projects I just don't feel I can focus on with a divided focus. If it were today, I would paint this huge bag of wooden toy animals that are for the humanitarian effort for church.

I'd rent a movie of the type that DH isn't interested in. Make yummy treats that they don't like, do my nails, lounge in the tub, read....it would be like a spa weekend. To tell the truth, I probably wouldn't pick up the phone or see anyone the whole time.

Enjoy it! They will be having a blast, so you should too!

I wouldn't know what to do with myself. I've haven't had that sort of time on my hands in forever. It would probably be overwhelming to say the least. I would also have the urge to look for my son ever so often. heh Enjoy it, go to the movies, shop, spend time with friends.

I'd stock up on good food and good books and spend the weekend at home. If you feel "flighty" or nervous, can't think of what to do, try going for a strenuous walk to ground yourself and get back in your body. I find that if I do something physical first, it's easier for me to enjoy the more laid back part of my "time off".

I have not had time away from every one in 17 years.

BUT, if I had time away, like the house to myself or something, I would rent some videos, eat chinese carryout and SLEEP!

I just had to quote my typo and laugh profusely at myself.

Pregnant Woman Eats Entire Restaurant: Film at 11.

That being said, tomorrow is the big day! I had a hard time falling asleep last night. I've never been away from my three-year-old overnight, and now he'll be gone for one full day, two half days and two nights. Yikes!! I know our nine-year-old will be a-ok, but my baby... MY BABY! All these awful things keep running through my head, from him missing me terribly to wandering off to the water when dh is still sleeping (which is highly unlikely and dh is great with the kids, but there goes my anxiety).

Anyway, hopefully I can find a nice restaurant to eat and enjoy my weekend
Thanks for the suggestions!

Good question! I haven't had two days off in many, many years.
I'd probably spend the day in LA shopping and going to the museum, having a nice, relaxed lunch, then the next day puttering around the house, reading on the patio, and watching films that actually require me to pay attention. Would take long walks in the early am, as I always want to do but am never able! Enjoy your time!

I tend to divide my time in 1/2. I try to spend *at least* 1/2 the time doing stuff that's just for me like reading, watcing what I want on TV for a change, sleeping in. The other 1/2 I do projects that I can't normally get done with a 2 year old around.

DH is taking DD for the weekend to my IL's in Sept & I'm SOOOO looking forward to it. Not only the time by myself, but her 2nd b-day party is the next weekend so I'll (hopefully) be able to get all the prep work done for that while they're gone and make the following week not quite as stressful.

Have fun!

I would walk around the house naked and drink margaritas!

Just kidding (or am I????) No really, I would read, take naps, listen to loud music, eat fattening food, work on projects that I've been putting off....So many things. First thing, though. I would clean my house really good so that I could actually enjoy it being clean for a couple of days!
