Hi all. I don't know if this is the right place to post or not, so please bear with me. (I didn't post yet in the pg loss forum, but if this is more appropriate there, the mods are free to move it.)

Anyway, to make a very long story short, I am currently waiting for the results of some blood work. I have had three recurrent miscarriages, the most recent was in March. The tests are for: antinuclear antibodies, lupus anticoagulant, and anticardiolipid antibodies. (If I understand it correctly, they are all antiphospholipid tests? It is all new to me.) I have done some searches on the internet, but if anyone has *any* info (personal experience, good links, tips, etc.), please share -- I feel so isolated in this experience.

If the tests come back positive for any of these antibodies, it is unlikely that I will pursue another pregnancy, with or without treatment. I would just like to know what the ramifications for other health issues might be. Thank you all so much.

I have a good friend who has had problems with this. Lost a pregnancy in the first tri, and one at 20 weeks. It has been extremely traumatic for her. She went to that doctor in LA (Sorry don't remember his name, he is well known and treated well known people like Courtney Cox Arquette) and got on his treatment protocol. After this last loss, they have decided to adopt. It has been really heartbreaking. The only abnormality she has was slightly elevated ANA.

I hope this isn't your problem mama. Good luck.

Thank you ND for your input. Unfortunately I have found out that I tested 'equivocal' on the ANA which is not the same as positive apparently (but is also not negative) -- I am currently waiting to see my ob and to have more testing done. (OT -- my ob is great, but I miss my midwives
). So here I am in limbo all over again . . . .

I hope your friend is finding peace and joy in the adoption. We are not sure what route we will take, but I thank you again for sharing her story.

Hi. You should do a search on this here at MDC... I have antiphospo Lipid antibody syndrome, also called lupus anticoagulant, and I have had several miscarriages, and am due any day now with my 2nd healthy baby boy...
Don't lose hope mama. All it takes for me is daily injections of a blood-thinner called Lovenox, taking low-dose aspirin everyday, and a little extra monitoring while pregnant.
I know what you are going through and I just wanted to tell you that it is absolutely possible to have a healthy baby biologically if that is what you want.
My DH and I are already talking about the next pregnancy after this one, and if it's not twins we will probably adopt one more...
It sounds like you are in serious need of a second opinion as far as your doctor is concerned.
Good luck mama. PLease feel free to PM me if you wanna talk.
