type 1 to be exact. my niece has it. i have read about diet cures but not sure if they apply to type 1. her family has not done a whole lot in terms of changing their diet to help her. now she just has to count all her carbs, but no one else does and they still eat out a lot. it's sad because you know she wants to eat what everyone else is but cant because most of what they eat has lots of carbs. if i found a book or other resource explaning the science of curing diabeties, or really limiting the amount of insulin she needs, i know he parents would take interest. and maybe they would overhaul the whole families eating habits, as her parents are way overweight.

There is no cure for type 1 diabetes with diet only. Type 1 means she produces no insulin, insulin is required to get glucose to the cells that need it. I think some good books on diabetes, but especially some healthy diet books would be most helpful and healthful! Yes, her whole family needs to start eating differently, and counting carbs while helpful isn't all that is required to get on a good track.
