A coffee can. I crochet
so the long needles aren't a concern. I use it when I want to take something around. I usually work on my friend's test patterns so it's a couple sheets of paper that fold easily. When I'm at home, I work out of a basket.

I have a big Disney tote bag my mom brought back from vacation. It's pretty big so there's room for all my yarn if it's a big project and a small pocket on the outside for snips, markers, etc. All my works in progress are kept in it.

I have a camera bag, that I used as a purse until it was necessary to carry a diaper bag again.

It is just a plain black bag bottom is 3 x 6 and it is probably 8-9 inches tall. It works great, at home I have all my yarn and needles in all sorts of extra bags I found around the house, mostly those plastic bags you get bed sheets in...they are nice cause they are mostly square, keep moths out, and zip...also free with the sheets.

Looking around my living room, I have a glass vase full of needles. On the table is a shawl, part finished, sitting in the middle of a decorative plate. Behind the sofa is my knitting basket, containing several projects and a large carrier bag full of carded fleece, and in a cardboard box is my spinning stash (that is, the small bits. Not the two fleeces out in the shed.) The rest of the stash is in a toybox in dd's room- how nasty am I?
Generally, stuff gets toted in any clean, convenient bag. My organisation is dreadful.

I have an over the door shoe hanger that recently became my main organization. You can see it in my blog. Garage sale find = $1

One of those X frame folding craft bags that you see at Joann's etc hold my WIP by my Rocking chair in the living room. I usually have 3-4 projects in there, plus my tool bag, my needle roll, KP Options, and any patterns I am working off of, IK Mag, etc Gifted to me $0

The top drawer in one of those heavy duty rubbermaid 4 drawer deals holds roving, felting, dyes, etc. Plus the fun fur that I hardly ever use but keep because it becomes hand to trim with for a 6 yo dd... Also gifted $0

Then when I take things with me I use gift bags, Ikea puppet bags, or the drawstring pouches my babywearing wraps have come in. The little zip bags for baby shirts, shoes, blankets, etc make perfect yarn holders. I leave the skein in one of those, and my work lies free in the carrying bag. $0

Total Organizational Cost? 1 dollar. Woot.

But I have been knitting close to a year and I JUST got this organized recently.
And currently I have 3 WIP laying on my side table by my Swift and rocker.... Plus a half wrapped MBOY....

I organize sort of like Flapjack and my to go bags or baskets change frequently. My new truck has a bench seat and baskets are NOT working. I keep dumping my projects every time I go around a corner.

As for my stash....well if you ask my family they will tell you it is taking over the house. I have several baskets in the livingroom, 4 rubbermade totes, half of a 9 by 9 room and sheves in the same room with yarn and mostly roving. I have 7 new merino fleeces in bags in my driveway under a tarp and at any given time up to 30 fleeces, mostly shetland in an outbuilding. I am overwhelmed and if you all lived closer I would invite you over for a big cleanout! This year I am sending as many lots of 5 lbs of washed teased shetland off te be spun that I can afford, I will still have lots left over for handspinning.

Oh yes and a trunk with a black alpaca fleece, two grey romneys and three bags of roving - black, dark grey and medium grey and probably mohair as well.

knitting needles are separated into three vase like baskets. One for dps, one for short straights and one for long. I keep them in pairs (or sets)

crochet hooks and misc knitting stugg like counters, markers, holders etc. are kept in 2 tins.

I also have a basket of felted shapes for needlefelting, 2 baskets of dyed roving for same and a big paper shopping bag of unfinished projects each in it's own bag.

DP and DD have their own knitting baskets and DD also has a weaving basket.

I desperately need a studio or another floor on my house!

my yarn is stored in a under the bed storage bag with cedar blocks (currently sitting in my trunk while I find a home to buy) but for projects I have several bags. For small projects like adult socks I use a tiny tote a friend made, for longies I use one of the summer bags from Old Navy, fortiny socks I have a sock bag from piddleloop on etsy that I just loooooooove. I keep my sock needles in a sock wallet from piddleloop, my circs in a roll up circ bag, andmy dpn's in a roll up circ bag.

I store in a rubbermaid bin, a six-drawer plastic storage container, and two tote bags.

I carry around my projects that I'm currently working on in a cute little hand-made quilted bag I found at a vintage shop for $10. It is about 8 by 10 and has two small pockets on the outside that are great for keeping scissors, some yarn needles, and stitch counters in.

Mine depends on where it is going to be knit...for the WIP that goes with us to the park, I use my MountainSmith bag I got from REI. Very sturdy, hard rubber bottom, waterproof...room for wallet, keys and wipes, too
.

At home I use whatever bag or basket is available...this includes 2 felted totes I've made, a crotcheted recycled plastic bag my Aunt made for me, an old picnic basket, 2 Lantern Moon drawstring rice baskets, a Lion Brand gigantic knitting bag my mom got me years ago, and some of my old teaching totes. Currently, these are *all* in use...and I have some space saver bags stuffed full in the closet beside a couple of boxes of wool...yep. I have a problem.

Heilsa!

I don't have a stash, so what little I do have on hand now and then, I just set aside in my wardrobe. My needles and hooks are in a vase, my circs hang in my wardrobe too, my drop spindles lay all about the house. Spinning is a way for me to commune with my patron Goddess, so I pick them up all through the day here and there, and they're never put away. My tidbits, like scissors, measuring tape, markers, etc. are in a little Italian biscuit tin I found in a thrift store, and it moves aroung the house quite a lot.

I usually just stick a project in my purse. It's a mama sized purse, so it fits nicely between the sunblock and bug repellant, under the band-aids and luna bars, and to the left of the tweezers and crayons.

Some of my stash yarns are kept in a basket in the family room, and some of it is in my DS's closet in those big, zippered bags that comforters come in. Every individual skein or colorway of yarn is stored in a ziploc bag (because I'm mothophobic and I believe in preventative quarantining).

As I knit on something, I put the ball of yarn into one of those drawstring bags that so many WAHM's send out diapers and stuff in. If I don't, one of my cats will run off with it (he loves wool, too).

Last year on my birthday, someone gave me a Vera Bradley tote that is just the right size for my WIP's and really nice to take my stuff around in. It has some nice pockets inside, and one on the outside.

My needles are all in a needle roll or the zippered bag I got from Simply Knitting (last month's issue, still on newstands in the US).

I keep most of my yarn in a hanging sweater organizer from ikea sort of like this, with these only mine has 5 big slots instead of the mix of larger and smaller that this one has and no handy pockets on the side...hmmm maybe it's time for an upgrade!

My needles are pretty disorganized. I want to try and make a few of these cool needlecases.

I'm picturing a few in different sizes and cool fabrics all lined up on a shelf...plus maybe a small one for traveling with scissors, crochet hook, etc. I'm going to start keeping my eyes out for good sized books at good will!
