What do you think of my business idea?

I currently work as a "research assistant" for a company, and I sometimes feel unhappy. I have to put my daughter in daycare for three full days a week, and drive 20 miles each way to work. I hate being away from her!

I have been thinking of doing the same thing, but for myself. I could start a little business doing data entry & analysis, report and grant writing, proofreading, research, etc. I am not sure how I would market myself or what I would charge for an hourly rate.

Do you think this is a good idea?

I do think that you could do this. I am not sure how to market this--do you have contacts in the fields you are interested in? Could they help connect you with smaller companies that may need your services? Is there an industry journal that you could advertise your services in?
