Normally I could care less what people think, but with the holidays coming up and extended families spending the night..... is it "not proper" for a child (4.5 yrs) to sleep in the nude. I've never met a child, besides mine, that hates to sleep with anything on, she has sensory issues with clothes in general. As an infant she would only wear a diaper, and got to the point where that would bother her (about 3.5yrs which was 6m before she was really dry at night : ). We're now a dry, naked, co-sleeping family, though I do usually wear something to bed as I'm very cold blooded and DH and dd stay very warm. I'm not expecting us to be normal, but am curious how others sleep.

I understand the sensory issues. I have them, and they get worse when I am pregnant. You might want to try jammies inside out, to keep seams off her skin. Also, my kids love to sleep in one of Daddy's undershirts. They are soft and loose and Daddy's. I have no problem with nude sleeping at home, but my mom freaks out. I bought new jammies for the holidays to keep everyone happy!

My oldest prefers to sleep nude, but will also sometimes wear one of daddy's t-shirts to bed (without underwear) if we have company or we feel it's just too cold (old drafty house) or if she's cold. Of course she'll end up taking it off halfway through the night. We recently had my grandmother spend the night, and we kept the door to our room closed then dd got dressed before leaving the room in the morning-so my grandmother never knew she was nude half the night. Is keeping the door closed possible? Will anyone even know she's nude? I see nothing wrong with nude sleeping kids. I can totally understand. I'm much more comfortable sleeping nude and wish I could still do it. But the kids kick all the covers off and I need pajamas to stay warm!

My 5 yr old has sensory issues as well- she sleeps in undies and nothing esle all year. Actually, she wears undies and nothing else a lot fo the time. We decided that she needs undies on around the house (unles she wants to stay in her bedroom) because if she's naked her hand goes right ot the yoni to play. My son is the same way. He sometimes wear jammies, but most of the itme it's just undies for him as well.

My Dd is often in a tee and undies, or pjs if she is really cold. My son sleeps in boxers.

for awhile my ds would only wear the clothes he was wearing that day to sleep in. This was especially true if he was wearing sweatpants and a tshirt that day. Now he wont wear anything but fleece jammies.

well, it`s below zero outside, and I am sitting here with 2 sweaters on. Noah on the other hand, is sleeping in the nude. Again.

He usually wears a pair of jammies to bed, but often takes them off before falling asleep.

my 4 year old daughter wears a top of a bathing suit and tights, any color, no panties. i don't care but my other kids think it does not qualify as comfortable sleep wear

Ds starts out the night in diaper and pajamas, but strips down buck naked sometime in the middle of the night.

If people are going to be sleeping over, how about just keeping some jammies in the bedroom to slip on him before he goes out of the bedroom?

Funny story: Ds2 was rolling around naked on the floor the other day, and my little sister started talking about how interesting it is that we love to be naked when we're little babies, but then by the time we're adults we have to wear clothes all the time, even when we're sleeping. I told her that I sleep in the nude, and she looked shocked. She said, well you wear underwear at night though, right? I said, nope. Then she asked my dh what he slept in, and he said also in the nude, and she looked really shocked! It's like it never occured to her that some people sleep naked. I had no idea it was so shocking.

Both kids are currently wearing long sleeve/long pant two piece pajamas. We keep the house cool & I think they sleep better warm. They are naked (except for diapers) during the summer though. I'd probably do what someone else suggested--- just keep some clothes by the bed (sweats, pjs, something comfy) to get on before leaving the room. There is absolutely nothing wrong with sleeping naked, IMO, but it might make it more comfortable for others (just like there is nothing wrong with me sleeping naked, but I put on clothes if we have guests before I leave my room).

Ususally thoer underwear. I try to get them to use at least a t-shirt cause the house gets cold & they don't stay covered, but DS prefers undies only. Oh well. We all run around the house in our undies though.
