i was feeling a bit off yesterday, and felt the need to check my cervix. i tried once earlier in the pg, but it was too high to reach (so have nothing to compare to). this time it was soft (but still quite high), and i was wonder if that is "normal"? i tried searching online and here, but can't seem to find what im looking for.

Well if this helps any mine is high and feels like the tip of a nose? (I am only 5 weeks along though) with cadence is was always high and "squishy" like lips

This is my third, and it's a lot squishy-er than it has been with other pregnancies. But closed. The lips description is a good one.

when it hasnt started softening yet it feels like the tip of your nose. when it has turned mushy it feels like your bottom lip when your lips are gently pursed for a kiss.

or thats what they say. i think mine feels like pudding lol. with a hole in the middle

It's usually up higher, but I've heard height can vary depending on the mamma and the pregnancy. I felt mine for the first time (while pregnant) last week, and it totally weirded me out so I looked it up. It's supposed to feel like two lips puckered together. IOW, closed and squishy. It's also often quite sensitive as it's filled up with blood and has more tissue around it. I was actually a little sore after I found mine.

For the unpregnant woman, the cervix feels much harder like the tip of a nose-though it can get a little soft during parts of the cycle, but nothing quite as swollen and squishy as during pregnancy. I was really shocked when I found mine.

Something really neat I found out from my midwife, too, is the color can turn purple or blue when you are pregnant. It's called Chadwick's sign: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chadwick's_sign

thanks ladies. that makes me feel a bit better anyway. it is soft and squishy like lips (good description!). i just can't get rid of this nagging feeling that changes are going on in that area. guess its time to hire a mw.

Mine feels like a nose and isn't low, but isn't particularly high, either.
