hey mamas- this certainly isn't an urgent question, but it has me really curious... ds2 is 20 months old and up until about a month ago has been a nurse anytime and anywhere kind of kid. however, he now has very strict requirements for nursing and gets frustrated at times when they can not be met! he has to be on the couch (even at bedtime- he nurses to sleep there now and i carry him upstairs to bed) and have this pillow he has dubbed his "milky pillow." the milky pillow is incredibly cute, but i don't know what to make of this? it's cut down considerably on the amount he nurses since we're often on the go with ds1... is he weaning already?? i'm just wondering if this is something others have experienced with their lo's and any suggestions for how to deal with the times when he gets rather upset that we're at the park and he can't have his milky pillow (he absolutely won't nurse in that case). thanks!

That is cute.
I am guessing he has found a way he likes and makes him comfortable, and likes his routine. I know my kids started getting particular about certain things at about that age, and still are. Like heaven forbid if you try and get DD (3.5) to put on underwear BEFORE her shirt...she will take it back OFF and then put on her shirt, then underwear, then pants. So I would imagine he is just starting to show and insist on his preferences for certain things, which in your case is how he nurses.

i think it's just the age. DD isn't like this about nursing, but she is insanely particular about lots and lots of things these days--like the PP said, she has strong opinions about the order in which clothes go on, can't stand to even SEE food on her plate if she doesn't want it (goes berserk if i put the "wrong" food in front of her, which may have been what she said she wanted, incidentally

, goes batty if the cats are lying in the "wrong" spot, etc., etc.

i think toddlers are just figuring out the way the world works, routines and patterns, and it makes them extremely anal at times. either that or she's just an anal person like her daddy

thanks so much for the replies! after reading them i realized that, yeah, ds2 is a bit particular about other things in his life too- i guess the nursing habits just stood out the most to me! ds1 was super laid back so this is just something new to work with
