When it rains, it pours... I'm on antibiotics for mastitis and now have pain in my other nipple. I don't see any white patches on me or in DD's mouth so I can't tell if this might be thrush or just painful sensitivity to DD's brand-spankin' new first tooth coming in and her desire to gum me to death. I'm taking probiotics and doing a vinegar/water rinse after each feeding, but wondering if I should get more aggressive with other measures. Besides the white patch stuff, is there any other way to tell if it's thrush?

For me it's an intense burning feeling when I let down that doesn't quite go away during the feeding. Also, my son doesn't have any patches, but has a white tongue and a pearl-like look on the top of his mouth.

I had thrush after antibiotics, too. DD never had any signs, thank God, but it HURTS! Burning/raw feeling when they latch that lessens but doesn't quite go away. For me it's like sandpaper on very raw skin. I've heard Caprylic Acid, which I'm on, and probiotics, but for me it took a long course of diflucan. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> Oh, redness right on the nipple, too. There are diets, but mostly I cut way back on sweets and simple carbs.
