Just curious, as I was reading the sweet thread below I saw lots of sweet names toddlers have for nursing. My 31month old has called it Nur-Nur for well over a year now, but now he will say Mama, I need to NURSE not Nur-nur!

What does your nursling call it?

Booby. Or Boob. I tried getting them all to call it Choomp, but they far prefer to demand Booby.

(Linda used to yell it when she wanted to nurse; thank God it sounded a lot like Daddy.)

Esther will come up to me and say "I'm hungry. I need to eat your booby."

He didn't really call it anything, he was much of a talker by the time he weaned (at 24 months) I called them "nursies"

Boobie here too! I didnt know what to call them so I started asking him if he wanted boobie and now its so cute he says it. He even points to his chest and says "boobie" when he wants it. So cute.

Hahaha DH encouraged DD to call them boobs. Now she will go "boooOOOOOOOBB" With a strong crescendo, as if she might explode if I don't pop her on right that moment.

We just started teaching her to sign and I think it's momentarily confused her. So she will sit on my lap and "pat" my boobies, while her hand is making the milk sign.

My DD says "Milk please, mama!"

That's it. Just milk.

Of course, I really can't stand made up words and baby talk, so this may be why.

That aside, I still sometimes wish my baby girl had a sweet name for nursing...

I have been talking about this to friends lately too, and it is so sweet! DS calls it "Nay-Nay", but I have also heard other toddlers call is Nee-Nee, Nee (just one, not the double Nee-Nee of another toddler), Nuh-Nuh, Yum-Yum, Ma, and Mama Milk. I am so happy that I know so many nursing toddlers!

Oh and SparklingGemini, I hear you on baby words driving you nuts. My son has only Nay-Nay and one other word that are "baby" words. The rest I work with him on and it drives me nuts when he reverts back to baby talk. The other word is so sweet that I can't bring myself to work with him on it. He says "Me-gurt" for yogurt. He totally got the pronoun thing that when I say "you" he says "me" really early and started calling yogurt "megurt" when he was about 18 months old. It makes me all melty.

Ds (27 mo) calls it milk, and I think it is super sweet

. He specifies "your milk" or "mommy milk" sometimes.

He signs milk and says Na-Na (long a sound)

Colin called it "mutz" we don't know why

Whenever I unhook the nursing bra, 15-month-old DS starts saying "mama" over and over again. He barely even says mama otherwise, except for when he spies a boob. If he were a frat boy, he'd basically by saying, "Hey, tits!"

My 14 mo. old hollers, "n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n" when he wants to nurse.

Oh and I wanted to add that my littlest sister, who is doing CLW, has called it ump since she could first talk. Not sure where ump came from, we asked her recently.

She said quite matter of factly, "Ump is the name for Mommy milk. I knew this when I was a baby."

We tried to get more info out of her, but she stuck to it!
