What else to do with Solarveil besides make slings??

545 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  mommymoose
I have 2 yards of solarveil fabric left over. I already made a few slings, and I thought it would be fun to make something else, but what?? I thought about making DS some little solarveil pants for wearing to the beach this summer, but that's about the only idea I've had. Any suggestions? (or if you've done something nifty with solarveil, I'd love to hear about it and even see pics!)

Thanks!

I was thinking about making myself some solarveil "sleeves"...i think they called them "shrugs" a few years back, you know, just sleeves and shoulders, with no shirt...to wear over tank tops in the summer. I love sleeveless shirts, but I burn very easily, especially on my shoulders.
Hmmm, that's an interesting idea. My DS has red hair and very fair skin and we spend quite a bit of time outside, so that may work for him as well (except I'm not sure he would willingly wear long "sleeves" in the summer, he tries to pull long sleeves off, even in the winter :LOL )

Any other ideas?
I had half a width of 2 yards.... does that make sense?/ I made a ring sling from half, and had the other half left ver.. anyway, I toyed with how to use it and have just come to use it as a strolelr cover, like, when i take DS out for walks, esp. on sunny days, he can see out it, adn ususally leaves it alone, i use claw type hair clips to hold it to the stroller frame, and it keeps him in the shade, and keeps bugs away sort f.... not too creative, but it does the trick for us!!

Holly, that's a good idea, I like that too. Our stroller has a sunroof on it already, that usually works pretty well.

I was also thinking of making some sort of "tail" for a sunhat, so help keep the sun off his neck, but I have no idea how to do that without actually sewing the solarveil to the hat.

My SIL is coming next week and we're going camping at the beach for a few days, I think I need to come up with something quick! I still may do the little sun pants, may help a little with mosquitoes too, I guess...

Okay, I just wanted to share, I just made DS a pair of little yellow solarveil drawstring sun pants. Haven't tried them in the sun yet, but he's so cooperative and wearing them for me now. They're cute! We have an outing tomorrow, maybe we'll wear 'em then.
