What exactly is a loose circ?

I have seen mentioned several places "loose circs" and I was wondering what that is exactly. My first son is circ'd (obviously I regret it) and I think maybe he has a loose one. Very often 1/2 to 3/4 of the glans is covered up but sometimes like in a warm bath all of it is exposed. From what I understand a loose circ is better as far as circs go, so I am hoping that is the case with him. I think I also read somewhere here that I should have him pull the skin forward and that should help stretch it more. Is that right? TIA!

A loose circ leaves more skin behind than a full circ does.
Yes, you can have him pull it forward or you can pull it forward at each diaper change and eventually the skin will stretch more. I think some moms here do that with thier kids.
The more skin that was left, the better off he is.
Thanks!
the only thing with a loose circ is that as it heals it is more likely to re attach itself to the glans trying to repair the damage done leading to a higher incedence of skin bridges. This happens during the healing phase of the circ. I have read that if this happens it is best just to leave it alone and not try to pull it loose. I dont so how it could hurt to pull the skin over the glans as long as your ds is ok with it. The more skin left over the easier it is to restore in the future.
I would shudder to think what would happen if DS told his friends Mom told him to pull on his pee-pee during a diaper change bathing ect. Funny it's ok to circ but I think this behavior would be frowned upon by CPS, courts and such. I say leave it alone.
I posted a few weeks ago about restoration on an infant and was told by every poster to just leave the are alone. I circ my first son and of course deeply regret it and was just curious what people thought about starting the restoration process in infancy. Every single poster agreed that his pour penis was already mutilated and tugging on it at every diaper change or even having him do it would only cause emotional trama. Once he hits puberty restoration can be discussed if he so wishes.

Also, lucky for your son his sounds like a loose one. My DSs is a tight one, NOTHING covers the glands.

Educate the foreigner.
Why are doctors doing lose circs? I mean, if the purpose is to remove the dangerous foreskin killingmachine why leave half of the skin there? How does that protect against UTIs, penile cancer or whatever else foreskin is causing - what an earth is logic behind this?
You made me giggle kxsiven! I think it's to stop some of the side effects like curvature of the penis, painful erections, etc. I say if you want to avoid the problems, avoid the surgery!

It doesn't - it's just their way of still doing what they know is a completely useless procedure "just because", probably because it's easier than actually educating parents about how it's totally uneccessary.

Oh, and they still get their $$.

And it's looks "so much better", you know.

I would agree that the parents should leave the foreskin alone. This is something you can let your son decide if he wants to do. "Restoring" or psuedo-restoring for him is just as unnatural as the circumcision was.

Just be thankful that the doctor that did the circ was careful enough to leave extra skin rather than too little.

Well he is 3 now and goes on the potty so I woudn't pull on it myself. I have always just pretty much left it alone so I will continue to do that. I just wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing since I had read somewhere that he should pull on it. I am glad he has never had any complications. Thanks for your responses and for not flaming me. I am always intimidated to ask circ questions here, even though my 2nd son is intact and I deeply regret circing ds 1.
You might have read that he/you should pull it back so that it does not readhere, especially on the scar line.
Now that he is washing himself, he should occasionally swish underneath what's left to clean, but nothing major.
And you won't get flamed here. A lot of women here had their kids circumcised before they knew the facts.
