I am putting this in this forum as it related to bf'd babies! I hope that's ok!

I realized at my last WBV that my ped isn't using the breastfed baby growth chart from the WHO. I just assumed he was since he knows I'm brestfeeding. He's an awesome ped. He got me into see an LC even though she wasn't taking new clients, his wife bf'd for over a year, he doesn't care if or when I vax and he even took classes by the LC to learn more about bf... He was the only one who told me not to supplement with formula when my son was losing weight.

So why doesn't he know about the charts? What does your ped use? Would it be odd if I took him the chart from the WHO to use for ds?

Mine uses the old charts, and at DD's last visit she finally dropped off the chart. (Previously she had been in the 5-10%). But her dr wasn't worried about that b/c she made the comment that "these charts are based off a bunch of Caucasian formula-fed babies in the '60s." So even if your dr uses the old charts, he may well know about their flaws.

I'm also inclined to believe that many doctors' patient-record software is already pre-loaded with the old charts, since they've been around for so long.

My ped uses the old formula charts, and when I tried to explain the new ones to her and demonstrate that Ds's weight was much more "normal" when compared to BF babies, she nodded, but just didn't get it. I hope your ped can see the big picture.

I don't think our Ped even cares that there exist breastfeeding charts. I believe I mentioned it once to no avail. They use the "standard" formula based charts.
