I always go through crazy food cycles when pg. I will have a food or flavor that I *have* to have. Sometimes later on that same food will totally repulse me. I will love something, go out and buy a ton of it, and then it sits in the cupboard or fridge until dh eats it for me
So what have been your foods?

Things that I had to have but now either totally don't want or at least don't have to have: lemon, olives, carrots, veg sushi (this was a 1 day thing
), popcorn (I would still love to have this but can't because of an allergic nursling), tofu (the thought of this makes me sick now), mushrooms

These are the things that I currently have to have: spicy spicy spicy (I put red pepper flakes on everything, I had it on my quinoa at breakfast this AM, on my lentils and pasta at lunch), garlic (this is the usual state of affairs for me, but last week I *had* to have it at every meal), asparagus (I must have this every day!), my friend's refried beans (she just takes canned refried beans and doctors them with cumin, lime jc, and garlic). Those refried beans are to die for. They just make me feel so happy inside
: Luckily she has been pg a bunch of times so she has pity on me and makes them for me alot

This is all I can think of right now. I would give my right arm for some cheese, but have to be vegan because of my nursling.

Fruit, especially pears and peaches which is strange because usually my favorite is pineapple!

Cottage cheese. I've always *liked* it but I can't get enough now that I'm pregnant.

The weirdest food thing that's happened to me is that I really crave fish all the time...but when I eat it, it doesn't taste good/like I expected it to so I only have a few bites. Then the next day I'm back to wanting it really bad!

My dh makes buffalo chicken tenders that are out of this world. I would have them every night if they weren't so labor intensive. Other then those, pizza, salad, and Iced tea could be eaten 3 meals a day. Sadly Jelly beans, I've been picking up a fresh bag every outing, they make some that are SO yummy now. Darn Easter Bunny!
Strawberries and banana's are my other sweet fix.

If somebody metions somthing yummy I HAVE to have it that night or the very next day!

I forgot about pears. Yes, I am enjoying them alot lately as well. But not just any pears, they have to be red d'anjou
:

I craved cottage cheese with my first and ate quite a bit with my second. If I thought about it, I would be craving it this time as well...but I try not to think about dairy

Limes! I need limes in my house 24/7. I also love green olives.
Now that my appetite is back, I'm getting really into red meat. Like pot roast, burritos, pasta sauce, grilled steak, WOW.
I've been craving beer like crazy, but have stayed away from it... until Saturday when I had 2 sips of DH's beer.
It was delicious. I know 2 sips of beer is not a big deal, but why can't I crave "safe" things like salad and brown rice. LAME.

ETA: I'm dying for some good fresh tomatoes. Impossible to find here at this time of year. I have a feeling as soon as summer hits, I'm going to be a tomato-eatin' fool.

I would eat a jar of Bubbi's saurkraut (for some reason it was the ONLY brand I could stomach) in a single sitting (usually a couple times a week). That and salt&vinegar chips. No other specific "had-to-haves", but I did need LOTS of fresh fruit, of all varieties.

Strawberries and pistachios are a daily must eat. Plus Kashi Strawberry waffles with apricot jam. Frosted mini wheats (helps keep me regular too) before bed. I can no stand candy or most other sweet things. This is really rare for me as I am a sugarholic for sure, but I think the adversion has helped keep me from gaining the normal 10 lbs I usually gain in my 1st trimester.
Sour dough toast with lots of butter is amazing plus frozen peas. I can not make my self eat chicken right now or cook any meat for that matter. Can only do eggs if someone else cooks them for me which is normally my pregnancy staple. Salad is not nice coming back up so it has been nixed and I will eat a steak out at a restaurant but not one cooked at home. They taste funny! This is my 4th pregnancy and it has been so different it cracks me up.

She doesn't measure anything that is the problem. That is why I always ask her to make them for me, I know if I did it it wouldn't be the same. I know she sautes a good amount of sliced garlic (she usually doesn't slice it very thin) in olive oil. She uses canned refried beans (Little Bear brand, but not sure if it would make a difference), throws in probably a decent amount of cumin and fresh cracked black pepper and enough lime juice to give it a nice texture. They aren't runny by any means, but they slide right down in a most soothing way.

I finished the last of what I had yesterday. I have been really craving them. I especially like them at breakfast or for a late night snack

I crave beer too! My DH brews beer for us, and I have had a half a bottle of beer a couple of times so far. Each time it has been delicious, and really helped me to relax a bit. A couple of nights that I had it, it was the only beverage I could keep down. I don't feel bad in the least about having a few ounces of alcohol every now and then.

I also crave strawberries, chocolate, eggs, cereal (hot or cold), pistachios and peanuts (have to be in the shell), edamame,...I guess I'm just hungry in general these days. After 2 months of being sick, it's so nice to enjoy food again.

Well today I had to have yummy tofu scramble with tons of veggies, nutritional yeast, soy sauce and hot sesame oil-yummy. I will probably eat it all day. Low fat-high protein. Oh and sunflower seeds, I am totally craving sunflower seeds. My HFS used to carry tamari roasted seeds and they don't now, I tried to make my own awhile back and they just aren't as good
.

Anybody know how to roast almonds or sunflowers seeds in soy sauce and make them taste yummy? I want them both.

Fruit! Especially plums. This morning I was up at 3:00 and immediately had to eat two plums. I have ate more plums in the past month, than I have in my entire life! I could also eat sushi for every meal of every day, but I am trying to hold off as much as possible. Man....all this talk of food has made me hungry again

This thread is making me hungry and grossed out at the same time! Isn't pregnancy fun?

I cannot stand even the thought of eggs. Or most meat, except bacon.

I've been loving potatoes (mainly baked). Cold cereal before bed every night. Cottage cheese with Triscuits, or cottage cheese with sunflower seeds and nutritional yeast scooped up with tortilla chips (seriously, try this. it is amazing). Pears!

My last pregnancy was at the same time of year and once summer hit, I lived off of watermelon. I can't WAIT for it to be in season again!

me too!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE watermelon. I always crave fruit and sour candy... mashed potatoes. Meat grosses me out but I try to eat it b/c it helps with the nausea.... Fruit and sour candy is pretty much the only thing that I can always get down... too bad fruit isn't filling at all!

Potatoes in any form, but ESPECIALLY mashed and, sadly, fried tastes great, but doesn't feel good later.
A lot of really really diluted cranberry juice cocktail (like, 1/2 cup in a huge glass of water). A lot of whole milk. Not something I really crave, but it's easy in the middle of the night and early morning and takes the edge of hunger off so I can sleep some more without feeling like I have food stuck in my teeth.

Fruit goes down easily, but I never feel like I'm EATING if all I have is fruit.

Cake and cookies are usual loves but do not make me feel good.
Too bad, especially since it was just my bday.

Thankfully, my m/s is finally really starting to go away, I think. It tends to rear up around dinner time still. But I'm hopeful. I'm in the 14th week. I don't think I had a trace of m/s at this point with DS.

ETA: I have been desperate for this delicious vinagery sweet corn and tomato "relish" my MIL makes, but there is just no way until, oh, July? August? Poor me.

I don't normally have "cravings" really, but the past couple of days, I have been eating a strange salad. It has tomatoes, cucumbers, fresh mozzerella cheese, and salt and pepper. No dressing. It's so yummy.

Those beans sound really good.
