Over the past 4 years, every now and again (like maybe once a month, if that) something weird will happen to my heart, and I am not sure what it is. I thought at first it was a panic attack, but I've just linked it something else-bending down and standing up again. Ok, here's what happens. I will be picking up toys or something, and bend down to pick a block up, and stand right up again, and my heart starts pounding and racing. I mean like three times it's normal pace, and pounding HARD, like I can r eally feel it on my chest. I sit down, take some slow deep breaths close my eyes and just try to relax. But none of that helps my heart to slow down. It just continues to pound until, bam! all of a sudden, back to normal. There is no slowing down, it just, from one heartbeat to the next, is normal pace, and not pounding. Same with it coming on, it doesn't speed up gradually like if you were having a panic attack. I can't anticipate it happening at all. Today it happened, and I thought I would just try to keep doing what I was soing, without stopping, to see if it would go away. Well, after about 2 minutes my left arm started tingling, so I sat down and took deep breaths. After 2-3 minutes of that, it just stopped, and I felt totally normal. I can talk, breath, and function fine before, during, and after. So, what on earth is it? I am asking here, because we dont have insurance right now (dh just quit) so I can't really afford to go to the dr., I will of course go if it's serious, but would rather not. It happens very rarely...Ok, diagnose me!

That happens to me sometimes too, but I feel the pounding in my head. I always just figured it was from having low blood pressure and it's trying to adjust when I stand back up.

Sounds like what they call tachycardia. It happen when the electrical impules from the AV node in your heart get out of whack. Most of the time they are harmless and resolve on their own, but can be a sign of underlying disease.
I have supra ventricular tachycardia. It started when I was a teenager and has gotten worse over the years. i used to take med. for it but i hated the side effects. I have once yearly monitoring of it. It does not appear to be life threatening though.
There is a simple 45 min. surgery they can do when you are awake, that is really easy. I have yet to have it done becuase I keep having babies! lOL
I would see a doctor when you get insurance or if it starts up and you cant get it to stop go to the ER. There are meds they can gice to stop it ASAP.
Sometimes if you hold you breath or bear down like going to the bathroom it will make it stop. Try it next time. or you can massage your cartoid artery on ONE side of your neck. These usually work.

Good luck, I would not worry too much, you'll just make it worse!
