This is technically my 3rd pregnancy...one loss at 4 months and a healthy son, now age 21 months.

I happen to feel my cervix a few days ago and it is really, really soft, mushy and feels a fingertip open. Now I do understand that after a delivery your cervix never quite returns to original tightness, but I have some anxiety about it being more dilated than it ought to be.

Anyone have knowledge on cervix texture at 30 weeks?

I'd really prefer not to be heading for preterm labor!
Thanks.

My cervix during pregnancy goes from tight/closed and posterior/anterior and soft/firm back and forth a LOT. Currenly this is my 3rd pregnancy, and I'm 15 wks. I am a fingertip open and squishy and posterior. Last week I wasn't. I think it really just changes.

That said, if you are feeling strongly about something being wrong, then call your care provider. That's what you pay them for!

Wishing you a happy healthy pregnancy!

Thank you, Spark, for your reassuring words and sole reply to my post.
You were certainly right that things ARE okay.

If anyone is reading this: I had an u/s scheduled today for other reasons and simply asked the tech to measure my cervix length to be sure it was within typical range. She did, and it is. So enough worrying for me.
