That is sad. My 5-year-old is super picky about what he eats, but he will eat both corn and peas. French fries? He won't touch them. And that makes this mom-of-a-picky-kid very happy! (In fact, he nearly melted down when we went out for lunch today and his grilled cheese sandwich came with French fries.)
Yeah, french fries are probably #1 with the older kids too. That makes me sad, but I know so many people who think that's all kids will eat. IMO, if that's all you give them, that's all they'll eat.
That said DD love peas, broccoli, asparagus, green beans, pretty much anything green and cooked, she also loves tomatos and mushrooms. She has no molars for raw veggies. She once picked up a catalog of seeds that had all these beans on the front of it and said "mmmmm!"
My kids like sweet peppers the best. That's probably related to how much I like them myself-- I serve them nearly every day. Technically peppers are fruit, though, right? Onions and carrots are big favorites, too. And sugar snap peas.
Our ds has never had a french fry and that's the way it will stay for a long while, I hope. He loves peas, limas, sweet potatoes, and spinich (in a quiche)!
