Hi, my ds is having a huge problem with leaking at night. We currently use a cpf, doubler and Bummis SWW. I am thinking wool might be the way to go. What cover is the best to prevent leaks. I am not really a pinning fan, so one that maybe comes with aplix closure might be best. I know you mama's are the experts, so I hope you can help me. Thanks so much.

I haven't had as much wool experience as some of the other ladies here, but of those I've tried, my most reliable, never leaked, never even felt damp cover is my 2 layer wool jersey full cut cover from Phunkymama. Looks like she doesn't have much instock right now, but keep an eye out for used ones. I've seen them on the Trading Post board here now and then (if you're eligible).

I also have a soaker from Knitty Ups that has held up well so far, but I've only had it about a week or so.

You may also need to up the absorbency a bit. Wool is great, but it can also leak or feel damp if a soaked diaper is up against it for too long. I personally use a pocket fitted stuffed with a hemp fleece trifold (6 layers total when folded) and a Joey Bunz. I think a lot of people have had good success with hemp prefolds as well.

Good Luck!

OK, I know you said you aren't a pinning fan - but what about snappis? Because personally I think the best wool for overnight is an Aristocrat. We don't get leak problems with it and it provide really full coverage no matter what diaper combination we have on underneath. Of course you need either a fitted dipe or snappied or pinned dipe - but really, snappis are easy and wonderful!

I (well, actually my son) just started using the Aristocrat about 3 nights ago. So far I'm in love with it. It is my first wool cover and I'm completely amazed at what it can do! He is a super soaker and I haven't had any leaks or dampness all night with the aristocrat. Now I am on a quest to try other WAHM wool, too!

I love Sugar Peas wool covers. DD can totally drench a hemp SOS, medium JB and a kissaluvs doubler but I've never had it soak through the cover.

I'm assuming your son is a toddler because you are about due with #2, and if that's the case, I doubt that 1 cpf with a doubler is going to hold his pee overnight. As someone else recommended, you need to increase your absorbency for overnight. If you want to stick with prefolds, try a hemp prefold from www.littlelounginglizards.com or a polar baby hemp prefold (I think they sell them at www.naturalbabies.com). Are you using a hemp doubler? If not, try 1 or 2 hemp doublers.

A wool cover is also a good idea, but if you don't have enought absorbency and your diaper (his diaper) is soaked, you'll get wicking through wool as well.

I my Stacinator wool for night, and can use it without pinning even though it's got snaps. ALthough last night I found a bummis whisper pant worked fine, where the wraps wick at night.

I personally cannot use any wraps sucessfully at night. Side snapping covers may work most of the time. But, the only things that I have that have NEVER leaked are nylon pants and wool soakers.

Definately a Wooly Dream by Mom and Me Creations - it will hold a bucket full - I have a very heavy wetter myself. Unfortunately I think she is closed right now but you can join her email list for updates and special orders.

We've had GREAT success with our Cushie Tushie soaker, along with a hemp fitted and extra soaker. Marnie knits really fast, too, so if you ordered from her you'd probably get your soaker really quickly. Cushie Tushie HTH!

We also use an Aristocrat soaker (over Kissaluv's fleece) and we've never had a leak. My baby nurses several times at night, and we don't change his dipe until morning. He wakes up with perfectly rash free skin and dry clothing/sheets.

Aristocrat! Actually, I have not had a problem with any wool covers, but the Aristo provides total and complete coverage, so that's why it gets my vote.

just had to pop in here and say that I love my wool jersey cover from 7thheavenbabies. it is side snapping so i do use a fitted, but if you reconsider and try a fitted or snappi, these are really great and i never had a leak w/ them.

For Prefolds I used Lambkin

For hemp fitteds I use a soaker (there are TONS of mama's who hand make them and I would be happy to share my links if you would like)

It all depends on how absorbant the diaper is on what I can use for a cover..

I use an aristorcrat or a Liz's Cloth wool Both work well and we never have leaks!

The only thing that's worked for us was our Fuzbomb cover. I still can't get over how well that thing works. Lily is an extremely heavy wetter.
I've also tried a Stacinator and a Sugar Peas wool cover and Lily peed right through both of those.
