Ok mamas, I need some help. I just went to the bathroom and peed. I went to wipe and when I did a big gush of fluid came out on my hand and the toliet paper. Could this have been urine? Or is it my water?

I had something sorta similiar happen at the mall a couple days ago but not NEARLY as much. I haven't had anything in between time.

It has now been about 3 minutes since my "incident" LOL! No more water... yet.

GRRR! Help me!

hmmm..are you only gushing fluid before/after you have urinated? I would get some of those litmus strips and check and be sure if it keeps happening.

ETA- sorry I thought you were not so far along! I see you are due in like a week and a half! I would take the wait and see approach. are you having any contractions at all?

btw when my water broke with my first it gushed and gushed on and off for several hours! with DD it broke in the water so I didn't feel it much.

Where do I get those?

Yes, it has only been after I use the bathroom. I try to "push" out all of the urine as to not get the two confused. I just don't know! This time it really felt like it came from the vagina. It has now been about 12 minutes with nothing else. With DD I felt like I peed myself and then nothing.... Then a few hours later I'd do it again. Then the time in between started getting shorter. I've always been so confused on this issue!! I had to go to the hospital last time to even make sure it was my water. At first they didn't think so by the ultrasound and then they did an exam and STILL didn't think so. Then I started leaking and then even MORE water gushed out so it was a definite. Obviously, since I went to the hospital and it had been over 24hrs they induced me as I was having no contractions. Great fun.

What are the strips and where can I get them?

Oh, ok...

No contractions... I had some last night but nothing since. When you had a gush, was that it? Or did you have continual leaking?

hmm it does kind of sound like fluid. what is your intuition telling you?

when mine broke, it was continual gushing! like off and on, but regular.

I am pretty sure you can get the strips at the pharmacy (call first though!)

btw I want to say if it's not continuing to happen and you have no fever or anything I wouldn't worry so much. (just speaking for myself here, not advising you to just ignore it per say. you have to decide what is right for your comfort level) a slow leak shouldn't be a huge deal. it is so common to have a leak and then the waters seal themselves back up. but if you ARE concerned about it though I would listen to that.

I know!! It's just driving me nuts not knowing! Should I maybe get some Emergen-C just to be safe? Last time I ended up getting GBS after my water broke. We didn't even test this time because I didn't plan on taking antibiotics. I'm just nervous we'll end up in the hospital.

There is a midwife, I don't know if she has any but she is over an hour away. I will email her and see if she has any available.

I think I'm going to take a shower and get read and see what happens. I will keep you posted so can you check back later to see if I have any more questions?

Thanks for helping!

Yeah! I was thinking that last night. Maybe I'm just getting small tears in the sac and then they're resealing themselves. If I really tune into myself, I think my water has broken... I feel retarded not knowing for sure though. It takes a lot to even convince me I'm in labor! I have had a couple "braxton hicks" like contractions but nothing painful.

what do you mean by you ended up with GBS after your water broke? did you (or baby) have an infection or just test positive?

don't worry mama. everything is going to be ok. I would definitly go take your shower and try to relax a little. then go from there

I am excited for you as your baby is coming soon! (Well in the next couple of weeks soon!) what a great time in your pg! try to enjoy these last days! I know how easy it is to stress at times while planning a UC but you need to focus and try NOT to stress!

I think if your water broke you would KNOW it. you likely wouldn't be questioning it.

if you are at all worried and want to be proactive about the GBS (just in case) I would get some hybelclens and do some washes. also definitly up your vit C and personally I would eat as much garlic and onions as I can..

I think there is a big difference in leaking waters and your water BREAKING btw. and I know how questionable I was about my own pg body! all I can say is trust yourself! (If you really feel like something is WRONG though I would make a plan now though)

hang in there! I need to go out for a bit but I will definitly check in later! just try not to stress mama, it's not good for you or baby. chances are evrything is going to be just perfect!

It's official... My water has not broken. Or at least it's getting little tears and then repairing itself. Anyway, no more leaking today so I'm convinced it's not my water. Or maybe the above. I have had lots of braxton hicks today so I know labor is in the near future. His head is pretty far down and it is not moving. He doesn't budge an inch. I ordered my birth kit and I am : it gets here on time! Just stay in a little bit longer babe! That way, the living room will be done too!

I just wanted to add that my water was broken for about 4 days before I realized what was going on. I though I was just peeing on my self from the baby's weight on my bladder. But it was amniotic fluid. It dripped and dripped for a few days and then just before active labor started there was a big gush. I was just about to take a bite of an ice cream cone . . .
umm, ice cream

Ok, that's just plain rude to mention ice cream when I have no means to go get any. LOL!

I didn't find litmus strips... : But I haven't had any more leaking. Either way, I figure it should be soon now anyway. I'm in the process of ordering a few more diapers too.. Not that they are really "needed" but it's another thing to do before he gets here.

PGNPORTLAND----Was it a constant dripping or just every now and then? I think I mentioned before that I felt kinda "wet" at night but there was never enough to be convincing.
