What is wrong with my feet???

528 Views 6 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  LisainCalifornia
My feet are all cracked and peeling on the bottoms. My heels are dry and crack, and are sometimes painful. Now the same thing is happening to the pad of my foot near my little toes, and also to my big toes themselves. It's like the skin could peel right off my foot, but if I accidentally catch these things? flaps? on something, the skin doesn't come off but it actually rips the meat of my foot. I know it sounds gross but I don't know how to describe it better. I went to the beach today, and when my feet are wet they look even more awful. I didn't want my friends to see the bottoms of my feet! Please help.

Are you often barefoot? In the summers I spend most of my time outside without shoes, and I get these cracked heels and pads that look awful. As soon as the weather turns and I am inside more and wear shoes outside, they heal up. If it isn't a fungal thing I would try slathering some salve, oil or lotion on them at night and wear socks to keep the moisture in.
You could have two issues. The toe part makes me think Athlete's foot. As for the rest it sounds like extremely dry feet. I have this problem bad. The podiatrist says this stems from overly sweaty feet, which I never realized I had. He recommended using lotion at night, wrapping them in plastic bags, and securing them with socks. I never tried it. This does not sound appealing to me at all. Along with sweaty feet I also always walk barefoot unless I absolutely have to wear shoes so they are just very calloused.

I totally know what you mean by the flappy things and yes it looks like they should peel right off but ouch :LOL

You may want to put some melaluca oil on your toes and see if that helps to clear it up.
sounds like athlete's foot to me. Do you have other problems with candida/yeast? the best treatment IMO is total diet overhaul, no sugar, no wheat, no dairy.
Yes sounds like athletes foot, and that's why it gets worse when your feet are wet. The strange thing about it is it looks like dry feet but in fact it's a fungus, so moisturizing just makes it worse. You need an antifungal. If you want to go natural, you can do Oregano oil, tea tree oil etc...

However like a pp poster said, you probably need a diet overhaul. Usually when symptoms like this appear on the skin it means you have an intestinal yeast problem.
