Just curious what everyone is doing
(I'm a curious one)

So... what kind of birth do you want?
natural without drugs
try natural but will get drugs if medically necessary
cesarean section planned
homebirth
hospital birth
birth center
water birth
VBAC
UBAC

And in what posistion?
squatting
half-squat (leaning against the wall or DH/coach)
sitting up
on your side
on all fours?
(are there any others?)

We are going for a birth center birth, natural without any drugs. I have had two Bradley births and I hope to do that again
I want to birth in the squatting position and have been practicing the squat for a couple of months now. I saw a video and it caught my attention and I have been so motivated to do it with this birth!
If a c/s is medically necessary, I hope that I will be ready to accept it and myself if I have to do a c-section. This will definitely bum me out though...

i'm hoping for a drug-free birth this time. I tried that with DS, but it didn't work out (i got an epidural at 9 cm, and since it didn't kick in until time for the episiotomy, i guess it sorta counts, haha), and it was such a horrible birth (vacuum, forceps, and all) that i was convinced i needed an epidural with DD. That birth went way easy though (choosing to forget the fact that her head crowned for two hours while i was told not to push until doc got there), so i think i can do it the way i want this time.

I really don't know what position to be in; with my other two, i was super-tired and/or had numb legs by the time i was pushing, so i was sitting/lying on the bed--i don't know of any other way to do it, haha! This time i'm going to do whatever is comfortable, and refuse to be tied down to anything. If i want to get up and pee at any point, then dammit, i'm gonna get up and pee, lol.

Planning a homebirth. Without drugs obviously, lol. I foresee myself spending time in the tub or shower. I will try the birth ball this time, I have an exercise ball I'm going to use. If I have any back labor like last time, I will try the hands and knees position. But I mostly just want to feel comfortable enough to get into whatever position feels comfortable to me at the moment. I pushed DS out in a squat and while it was effective I think I may want to try birthing on my side to avoid tearing. But I will just go with the flow and see what feels right at time ultimately. I'd really like to call the midwife at the very last minute, because I feel like last time having someone checking me and directing me really hindered the process. I have even been considering a UC this time around.

I'm hoping for a home birth. My first birth was supposed to be a home birth but ended up with a hospital transfer. So, can't rule that out. I want a natural birth but would of course accept medical interventions when needed (in the case of a hospital transfer). Last time I pushed ds out laying on my left side and would be comfortable doing that again, we'll see how this baby wants to come out!

I really want a natural/drug free birth. Right now I'm planning on the hospital birthing center with a midwife. The more I think about it the more I want a home birth. I live 40 min. away from a hospital, that's the main thing that make's me not want to. I fantasize that I go into labor, and oohhpps, have it at home, hehehe. I will probably birth in what ever seems most comfortable, probably on my hands and knees.

I've been getting really down lately about the birth. Can't seem to find anyone who attends homebirths. I really have some bad memories of my first birth in a hospital (family birthing center, but the nurses were sadistic and brutal, which killed all their pre-registration hoopla about how open they are about making it as close to home as possible.) My insurance is a complete waste of our money, I've recently discovered, and the cost of a hospital is giong to be h-e-double-hockey-sticks to pay back. (And one can't file bankruptcy on medical anymore, so they get to hound us and garnish our wages for the rest of our lives, which is stressing me out...) I guess I'll just have to see how things work out in the next few months. But I still have a very strong desire to be here, at home, this time. I'd rather do it myself at home than deal with a hospital again. UC has been on my mind for several months now...

I would like to have another birth similar to my last. Home, baby born in the living room while bracing myself against my DH in our fishy pool. Rest of the kids asleep and wake up to come meet the newest member of our family. Last time it was all so perfect I just hope it can be close to that. The funny thing is I spent all last pregnancy telling everyone I wanted the baby to come after we put the kids to bed at night and that is exactly what happened. This time I am saying the same thing but adding in that I want it born on October 7th! My last two were born October 17 & 27. I think it would be cool to have kids on the 7, 17, & 27! Not that I'm being picky! lol! I'm sure by 37 weeks I'll be happy to get the job done ASAP!

*hugggsss movingon*

i'm having the same problem; i finally "gave up" so to speak, and decided it was better to settle for the hospital birth with an OB than to stress over it for the next several months. I *think* i'm at peace with it now, lol, but it hasn't been easy. I hope it works out for you either way

PS-- i had no insurance when DS #1 was born; it took almost 3 years to pay off, but it really wasn't so bad. I even had the epidural and baby head x-rays and everything, lol, so hopefully it'll be cheaper than you expect

Homebirth & since we have a waterbed now I'll be renting a birth tub & if i feel like it i'll stay in the water. If not I'll have one of my sons twin beds ready to birth on. (If I am in labor at night again they will all be moved into our room so we can shut the door for them, so the beds will be free that night). I reallly want to put the beds together (they are bunk beds but side by side at the moment) but I am going to wait until after the baby is born for that! Otherwise my only "bed" option is a mattress on the floor. And I do want the option available in cause I don't feel like being in the water (doubtful. it's been my favorite thing in every labor. lol)

We're planning a home birth, so it will be all natural. I've thought about what position I will birth in, I think I'd like to try a squat, but who knows. Once the time comes I'm sure my body will chose the way it needs. It's a little stressful right now, considering we will be moving a few months before the birth. We don't have a place lined up yet, and I'm trying not to let that worry me. We're in an apartment complex right now, and we're going to try our best to be somewhere a little more private for the birth.

We're planning our second home waterbirth!
It was going to be UC but plans have changed. I will have the mw who was here for my last homebirth. However, I want to labor as much as I can w/o her here then call for her to come over. Right now I'm planning to birth as much as possible on my own w/ dh as I feel comfortable doing..however I'll probably end up needing her reassurance during transition/pushing that I AM making progress.

I won't know the position until I'm pushing. My first two births were hospital so we all know what position I was in (although thankfully I wasn't in stirrups w/ my second). With my third I started out sitting up in the pool but felt that I could push better while up on my knees. I NEVER imagined I'd birth that way...but it was really comfortable in the water. So we'll see how I feel with this one.

a homebirth...and I am not calling the midwife until I am well underway, like pushing maybe :LOL ...I want to be alone...I am even considering going unassisted...we will see...even with a midwife and a homebirth I still had too much intervention last time.

Homebirth.
I'm bordering unassisted or assisted though. I still haven't decided and will wait for the birth to find out.
For now, we definatley have a midwife for my prenantal care. At 36 weeks I get my birthing pool, and hopefully will be able to labor and possibly give birth in the water.
As for positions...I'm hoping for whatever position feels best!
