I've tried just about everything under to the sun to wash my diapers. I find it interesting that what works well for one person doesn't work for another (probably due to the water where they are, the type of machine, kind of dipes they are washing etc - so many variables!) Anyway I thought it would be interesting to see what the majority uses to wash dipes, or if it's spread out across the board!

I've tried a huge variety of detergents as well. I alternate all the time because I have so many boxes and bottles from my "testing".
My very favorite right now is Amway (Quixtar) SA8 Sensitive, but it's so pricey, I don't know if I'll buy it again. It doesn't leave my fleece repelling and doesn't leave my diapers dirty or stinky or perfumey.

I use Tide Free.

I used to use All F&C, but find that Tide Free cleans better and doesn't leave as much build-up with my semi-hard water.

We get those huge tubs of, I think it is called purex...one of those oxygenated ones, I think it is. They last ten forevers and I only need a new tub about once every six months! Prior to finding that, I was a tide gal, or I'd just buy whatever was on sale.

I'm using Trader Joes's Natural right now. Prior to that, Biokleen for three years until my diapers stunk. I would like to use Tide since everyone says it is the best but I have huge issues with the animal testing and can't/won't give them my money.

I use a tablespoon of Joy green tea essence dishwashing liquid. Every once in a while I do sportwash instead, like maybe once a month. I have used the laundry balls once too, I always forget what they are called. I have really hard water so I am paranoid about my fleece.

I used to use Arm and Hammer Baking Soda detergent, but I just bought a box of "Nature Clean" to try. It lists the ingredients and their source. You use a lot less, which makes me feel that stuff isn't getting as clean, but it seems to be.

We use surf. I love the smell of it, and so far I haven't had any problems with it. I think ALL bought them out b/c now it says Surf (ALL) on the bottle.

I use ALL now - the quick-dissolve powdered kind, with the normal ALL scent. I it.

I tried Tide and Cheer and hated the smell, also tried SensiClean but felt like it didn't clean well enough.

I haven't started CDing yet, but right now I use Seventh Generation detergent.

I noticed someone posted about hard water -- we have super hard water coming out of our well. What is the affect of hard water on CDs? Will I need to use a special detergent to do a good enough job? I have a great European front loader, but need to put more than the usual amount of detergent in to get dirty clothes cleaned well.
