What kind of prenatal are you taking?

I didn't really take one with my last pg, just because I really thought there weren't many good ones out there & the ones that were good were over priced. I was right, I think.
I splurged (sort of) & bought some last week that were around $25 for 60 of them, only they want you to take 4 per day. I only take 2, though. They seem to be really good vitamins. They're called Perfect Prenatal by New Chapter Organics. They have probiotics & whole foods....just good stuff. I used to just take a Sam's club brand, before I figured out they're not all the same.

So what kind are you using? Are you choosey about them like I've become?

I've heard really good things about the New Chapter, but they are definitely pricey. I take one called Optimal Daily Allowance, which is put together by a local compounding pharmacy. It's not a prental, but it's got everything and the kitchen sink. I take 3 pills, twice a day.

I'm definitely choosey now; I used to take Walmart brand. Not even sure those are worth the effort.
I'm not taking a prental - but I do take this.

Last preg, I took the Sam's prenatals for 12 weeks, then switched to just alfalfa on the recommendation of my midwife. The evil ferrous sulfate constipation stopped, and my iron levels were AWESOME after the birth (ie, they were really good for a woman who had NOT just given birth). I used to tend toward borderline anemia, so that's a big deal that my H&H was so good!

This preg, I've started out with Prenate Elite samples my OB gave me, but I will probably just switch to alfalfa after these run out. I will take a folic acid supplement if I switch to alfalfa only before 12 weeks though - alfalfa doesn't contain much folic acid. So far, I haven't had any problem with the OB prenatals - it's a different form of iron in them, and so far they're not causing me constipation. But then again, I'm only 6 weeks! So we'll see.
I take Perfect Prenatal by New Chapter. I think they're the best around. I also take their CalMag. New Chapter is a bit pricey but it's worth it. If I have to take supplements, I want the best possible!

I'm taking Rainbow Light's Prenatal One, from the HFS. I've heard good things about New Chapter too, I just needed something fast for ensurance since I don't eat much meat (occasional chicken) and no dairy at all.
I'm taking generic Target prenatal vitamins. I had Hyperemesis with DD and those were the ONLY ones that don't make me puke 2 seconds after I swallow them or make me violently ill for hours afterward. I don't know what it is about the formulation, but it works so I'm not messing with it!

I started this pregnancy out with Rainbow Light Complete Prenatal System but it was 6 pills a day and with a strong gag reflex that just wasn't happening. I switched to Rainbow Light Prenatal One which is just one a day. I took the one a days from RL with both my son and daughter too and have always liked them.
I am searching for another prenatal too & think I may order the Perfect Prenatal by New Chapter Organics. Those that used this b4 did you continue to take them after the baby for BFing?
Just wondering what quantity I should order!

Here is 120 for $39.00

Just whole foods, and teas made by me- red raspberry leaf, alfalfa, red clover, and nettle.
Well I still take them as I am nursing my 10 month old but they are mede by Spring Valley , I think they were like $7 for 240 and I only have to take one a day. I also take calcuim with vit D.
I'm taking Rainbow Light Prenatals. I took them with DS and they are pretty darn good. I'm wondering if they're the reason DS has suddenly gotten ticked off with my boobs...I think my milk's taste has changed.

Just an FYI, if you're taking OTC prenatals be sure to take an extra folic acid tablet.

yeah, I'd like to know too. If the Vit gives 100% and then you are eating foods that gives additional, isn't that more than enough folic acid?
Huh, that's strange. The old OTC prenatals I took (before the Rainbow Lights) didn't have enough folic acid in them. My RLs are way good. I just read that you have to take a minimum of 400 mcg of folic acid, so if you're getting that I guess you're good.
I was told to just take some flintstones vitamins twice a day for now until my appt in May. Iqm just going to keep taking my Centrum chewable for now though. I have issues with swallowing pills I don't know why so I like to be able to chew my vitamins. Anybody know if I can find other good chewable vitamins?

I guess it depends on the brands then, mine has 800 mcg
Hey ladies... I'm taking Natatab prescription from my ob/gyn that I took with DD... it seemed to work for her!
