Gabry, you and your DH, Froilan, are such wonderful hosts!

The sunny back yard was perfect for the kids to play while we talked. The table at lunch was a full spread of breads, cheese, meat, fruits (mmmmm those strawberries), salad and pastries. Your neighborhood and town are lovely for walking and sightseeing...thank you for making sure I made it to the Chocolate shop! And the park with the outdoor tables to have drinks was the perfect end to the day for all of us (kids and adults).

Angela it was nice to meet you and Wobbe, you are a cool mama traveling with your backpack and baby in a wrap, visiting friends across countries! and thanks again for letting me know about the other methods of schooling offered here.

Championship match of the day - in the light-weight division:
Kieren Vs Wobbe ! (the crowd goes wild)
there wasn't much action at first as they sized each other up, then suddenly Kieren was on the offense going for the ear-grab (his signature move), but Wobbe broke free....and it was a draw! too much excitement!

On the way home Zuzu said, 'I have a good idea' 'next week, when we go to Yanek's house we can bring my bicycle with us'
Um, since when do the kids make play dates without telling us?!!

Oh, yes, Froilan was talking about ways to help kids during play, for example intervening to give them the tools help resolve conflict as opposed to letting them resolve conflict on their own...it was interesting, and I meant to ask if that was a theory/something he had read specifically, or something he has heard/learned while parenting?

I hope we do meet up again soon!

Krissie, thanks for your post! We had a great time too and we appreciate you and Angela coming all the way over here with kids in tow.
Sarah, Katie and Jen, I'm sorry you couldn't make it.
Squirming babe won't let me write more, but I do hope I can join for subsequent meet-ups. (I love your A'dam suggestion, Sarah!)

I'm sorry we missed it! We have pinkeye though, so it's definitely good that we didn't come. Let's try to meet up soon! I'm always willing to host in Utrecht.

Sounds like fun, as always. Let's pick a future date and location soon (now?) and start planning the next meet-up!

Perhaps picking a date first would be best? Then between the people who can make that date, we can select the best location?

I'm definitely game! I would love to meet all of you. Weekends are best, but starting in July I will be off on Wednesdays (yay for parental leave policies!) so from then I could do that too. Any location is fine.

We're really flexible. I think it would be great to try to do it in the next several weeks, before people start to go on vacation.

Thank you Angela for thinking about me. May 13th though is my little niece's first birthday, so that day won't work. It's okay though, I can join in again next time maybe..
I'll follow the thread anyways.

Can I put a little plug for one of our favorite parks? Check out the fotoboek.

http://www.speeldernis.nl/

It's pretty easy to get to on bus 33 from CS Rotterdam (with about 5 minutes of walking or so).

That looks cool!
I would still like to join in some time and meet allof you, despite working ft and having slightly older kids than most -- once I'm over a bout of pneumonia anyway!

A place like the Speeldernis (didn't know about it) makes it worth the long train trip for me and my kids would love it!
