I have always loved the name Jezebel (however it's spelled <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> ), but I can't wrap my mind around naming a dd that. I also love Lucifer, but sometimes, I think I'd just be asking for it, you know?<br><br>
I have a friend who named her kid Damien and she's told me about all the stupid comments she's gotten as a result. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">:<br><br>
Maybe if a kid <i>demanded</i> one of those names, it'd be different.

I love boys names like Christian, Gabriel, Julian, Lucien, etc, but I would never use them because they aren't "manly" enough for us. I like names to be obviously boy or girl.

Of "real" names, I don't really have any never ever ever ones, I mean as long as the name's plausible and not something like "Veneral Disease" I could see occasions where I'd end up using the name.<br><br>
However, I do have a long list of "it'd take a *lot* to get me to use that name". They're basically okay names, they're just ones I'd avoid, Ashley tops that list.<br><br><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/offtopic.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="offtopic"><br>

Alexander (not that I don't like the name, it was on my "list" as a kid, but I've since found out that was my mom's stepfather's name and he's an evil, evil man). That's really the only name on my "not in a million years" list.

My parents' names. Don't like either person (nor my father-in-law, who oddly has the same name as my own father), not gonna name my kids after them. I know you'd think it's kind of a given you're not going to name your child after someone you don't like, but I'm named after my maternal grandmother, whom my mother didn't like.

Us too. There are a lot of names that sound ridiculously sing-songy with our last name.

I won't use anything that starts with a B because our last name starts with an M, and I don't want my kids' initials to be BM!

My best friend's little boy is Damien, too, although he goes by his middle name, Sage. I think Damien/Damian is adorable. I was kind of disappointed when she used it, because I would have considered it for a son of my own.<br><br>
I wouldn't use anything super-trendy like Mackenzie, Makayla, Madison, etc. (I did name my DS1 something trendy when I was 18, and now I regret it.) I wouldn't use the first and middle initials B.A. or R.A. because our last name starts with a T. I can't use anything ending in -er, -or, or -ar, because our last name ends in -or, and it just sounds silly.

I always felt like it would have been really nice to use a form of "Ronald" in DS's name, as FIL is Ronald and DH's very best friend is Ronnie but I just couldn't do it! Sorry to all the Ron's out there!<br><br>
The other thing I can't stand for some reason is girls' names that have a "ye" at the end. Like Tommye or...I can't think of another right now but I know they're out there!

Now see, if a man named that saved me from a burning building I could totally see naming a son that. Hitler, on the other hand, is on my list of not "real" names (along with Stalin, Mao, Castro... and Smith--Smith obviously being somewhat different from the first 4 mentioned.)

I really like old biblical names and my dh does not like them, Ezekhial and Jedadaih (sp? on both) are some of my favorites

There was someone in Sweden fighting to name their kid Metallica. I would avoid anything that was nick namy Jimmy, Timmy etc. I have an aquaintance is named Timmy John. My mom wanted to name me Katie. Not Katherine but Katie. I would not be happy with that.

I like the names Malikia(prolly my spelling is off) and Damien, and DH has is very against them.
