What non-diapering items have you used as diapers?

I want to hear all of your ingenious "CRAP, I'm out of diapers!" emergency concoctions

I folded up a t-shirt so I could use the sleeves as wings for pinning, and I've used a bar-towel as a flat, but that's about as creative as I've gotten.

We went on vacation to Mexico in January, and the airlines lost our luggage.
The rest is a very long story, but needless to say we ran out of diapers. We used cloth wipes, gerber "burp rags", & at the end he was wearing his blanket. :LOL But...hey I didn't break down and use disposables and I am proud of that!

This is a funny thread!

I've used plenty of weird stuff!

Once when we were out at the Hardware store I totally ran out, and my dd is/was so sensitive to wetness I had to change her OR ELSE!

I used an old t-shirt we had lying around in the car.

I used some of my mother's tea towels a few times when we were out of dipes. Linen is quite an absorbent material! LOL!

We've used washcloths, I've cut up old t-shirts, sheets, towels.

I heard of someone using a palstic bag as a cover once! I thought that was soo crazy and it had to be impossible, so I tried it myself. It sorta worked, but the plastic bag kept slipping further and further down, I don't remember if I took it off before he even got a chance to pee or not, but anyway it didn;t work very well!

I also read of someone who was gonna chop up her shower curtain to try to make a cover out of, I guess she said it was a pretty rose print....

I did not try to copy that one! LOL! Yuck, vinyl!

I was at my dr. appt one time and ds pooped in his last diaper.... It was a fuzzibunz so I went to the bathroom in the dr. office and they had some maxi pads - put one in the pocket, and then put one on the outside on top of the fleece.

I've promised to never run out of diapers when out and about again.

dd and i went on a weekend trip to visit my parents and i realized, the last day, that i had just enough diapers last us the way home.

... until she pooped. twice. i was
: thinking i'd have to buy sposies, since i was worried she'd poop again and stain one of our shirts or something if i used that in a cover.

then... a flash of brilliance! dd wore a pair of my boxers folded up in her cover. dh got quite the laugh when he changed her diaper when we got home.

after that, i have made a point of bringing an extra receiving blanket in her duffel bag.

On the occasion that we forget the extra diapers, we've used a tshirt, flannel burp, cloth wipies, and a receiving blanket. Now, I make it a point to keep a couple hemp jersey flats in the car for diaper or any other emergencies!!

Now, who can say THAT about a sposie?!

Terry burp cloths, kitchen towels, shirt. Once at the dr katie pooped. I left the diapers in the car. So I dumped the solid poop & flipped the soaker over. Luckily it wasn't too wet.

DD#1 pee'd on herself at church. We had no extra clothes for her. So I jimmied my sling as a dress. LOL!!! It was funny! MooMoo baby.
Okay, these are hysterical! I don't have any creative diapering stories (yet ... we're going on two trips this summer, so who knows!), but I'm loving these. :LOL

does that mean you hand washed the fuzzibunz in the sink there first... or just laid the maxipad on top of the poop.

Ok off to get morning coffee--I am way too dense this morning to understand anyone's posts!!!!!!!

Receiving blankets are about as creative as I've gotten.

Though - I've used a medium fitted diaper as a maxi-pad for myself when my first PP period showed up while we were camping !! Let's just say that I didn't fit into the weight range very well, and a prefold would have worked MUCH better - but you gotta do what you gotta do !
