Do growth hormones, antibiotics, and pesticides found in food that I eat pass into my breastmilk?

I am very conscious of what I feed my dd to avoid as much of the above as possible. However, when it comes to me, I usually don't spend the extra cash for the more pristine food. It just occurred to me to wonder whether my dd would get this stuff through my breastmilk.

What does everyone think?

(Not sure where to post this so I am cross-posting.)

Thank you, thank you! What is wrong with me? I feel like an idiot. I was so careful about heavy metals (fish), and alcohol, and all the other "duh" stuff (or so I thought), but I didn't think about dairy and chicken and other meats for myself (though I did for her consumption). She is 14 mos. What harm have I done? I know I have to look forward now and begin making changes. Thank you again...

FWIW, we eat a preservative and food coloring-free, organic diet for the most part. It is my personal belief that we can pay a bit more now (for organic) or pay much more later with our health. Wish this wasn't the case.

One of the most important things we can do is be conscious and aware. Don't beat yourself up over this-----when we know better, we do better
Your little one is one lucky baby to have such a concerned mama!!!

JaneS,
Thanks for that great link. Thankfully, I do avoid those about 95% of the time (darn candy bars get the better of me sometimes). I'm pretty good about plenty of EFAs for myself and dd, so that helps too.

Georgia,
Thanks for the info and the reassurance. I have learned so much here at MDC, but I can see I still have so much more to learn. Yep, as I know better, I will do better. Gotta run - dd's awake!
