the kind I just had contained just coconut extract and water.in a 14 oz can (400ml)
there was:
  • 4g protein
  • 24g fat (18g sat fat)
  • 4g fat (2.8 sugar
)

does that sound about right?

I frothed it up (warm) in my french press for a "cococcino"
my daughter loved it! just want to make sure to get the right kind, and also, if any of you know some specific benefits of coconut milk.

thanks!

I look at the ingredients more than the nutrition label. I find that the kinds without preservatives taste better. I'm personally ok with stabilizers (guar gum or xanthan gum) but that's possibly a byproduct of being gluten free.

Mmm cocoaccino sounds good!

yeah me too.

I have NO idea about how many calories are in things... I look for the ingredients and also how fatty the coconut milk is. the fattier - the more bang for your buck and the better tasting. and of course, the less ingredients the healthier.

interesting! are you sure it really is the only brand?

I wonder why they don't sell it frozen instead of canned. (or do they and I don't know?) or why they don't sell it canned in glass like coconut oil/cream?

yeah, I don't really check the calories on things either (well sometimes, not on this though), I just wanted to see if that looked like the right amount(ratio) of fat! (I didn't want to get ripped off

I'm assuming the "coconut extract" is fine then?

hmmm well I guess it depends on what *you* would want in it. I think I wuld be concerned with why they needed to add flavour to coconut milk? and I would prefer to have nothing not essential to coconut milk (or the keeping of it fresh) to my coconut milk...

well the only two ingredients are coconut extract and H2O, so if they didn't add the coconut extract they'd be selling canned water lol. I live in england, so maybe they are labeling things different? hmm... I don't know.

that sounds like "coconut water" or something... nto coconut milk.

here is what is on my cans (I have a few different brands myself):

coconut
water
guar gum (as a stabilizer)

maybe in England they means something different by "extract" than here. here that would mean something like coconut flavoring.

the fat on my cans range from:

10-11 grams saturated.
1 gram of protien
1-2 grams sugar

does that help at all?

(maybe you could link to the brand you are talking about so we could better look it over?)

Can I ask what brand you have found with no preservatives? I've yet to find one without a list of e-numbers. Sigh.
