So, what should your cervix feel like at this point in pregnancy? (I am 33 weeks) Just curious. I know it is different for first timers, and subsequent pregnancies, and there is alot of variation, but I'm just curious...

Mine is fairly easily reachable and quite squishy. I can also feel the babies head right there through the back/top of my vagina... so weird thinking that there it is... right there!!!

So, what is normal?

With my last pregnancy I was dialated to 2cm and soft for the last 3 months of my pregnancy lol.

Now I am funneling, but my cervix is very high, I can't really reach it at all, and very hard and long.

sounds normal. mine is squishy, reachable, 3 cm and pretty darn effaced. very cool to feel baby's hard head- love that!

My cervix is really soft. Feels extra mushy at the center and kinda slimy. I could easily slip a fingertip in. But baby is way high and not at all head down so it's not effaced at all.

Fwiw it's feel like this, but maybe less soft and not slimy, since week 24 or so.

30 weeks-- mine is reachable, squishy, 2cm. I can feel baby's head, but just barely.
Pretty much any variation is normal at this point-- long, hard, closed, and high, or low, soft, and open. More towards the latter for moms who are on their 2nd+ baby.

Alright, you can feel the baby's head??? Way cool.
I'm gonna have to go poking around in there now.

I'm not very good at deciphering what my cervix feels like- I figured that out when TTC. But I'm going to try again because I think it would be really neat to feel my baby's head there.

How do you know if you're funneling? And how the heck do you ladies even reach you hooha at this point. I'm having difficulties wiping. I won't even bother with circus contortions trying to check my cerix.

I know because my OB told me so lol, thats all, I cannot reach my cervix at all right now, my dr checked me when I went to the hospital and was like "well your funneling, but man your cervix is up high", (I was like yeah, thanks for digging that deep OUCH!" then I had a ultrasound to verify the funneling, not sure at how how she "felt" me funneling.

When I can't explain something or do not know the answer, I just chalk it up to magic.. my dr is magic lol

It helps to squat. I feel mine after a bath so my fingers are clean and my muscles are loose.

Holy crap! I felt the baby's head like you all were saying! I thought it had to drop before it was so low like that- the baby is so close to...coming OUT! It's mere inches from the outside world....
Seriously, when the baby drops where does it drop to if it's already right there??? It'll be hanging out! Then it really won't have very far to go at all when birth day comes
And I guess my cervix is all squishy and soft because I couldn't even recognize the nubby cervix part, it was all just...mush.

Crazy stuff, ladies.
Going to pack my hospital bag...now.

I'm jealous that you can feel your cervix. I have no problem getting around my 34-week bump, but even with my longest finger I can't reach the cervix. Babe is head down, but hasn't dropped, so maybe that's part of it.

A lot of times, the cervix is behind the baby's head at this point, so you might not be able to reach the cervix around the head if it's low.

expat-mama! Thanks for the giggle!!!
I'd been reassuring DH lately that the baby's head is nowhere near close enough to touch because otherwise....he gets freaked out and doesn't want to DTD.
My cervix is long and hard acc to the doc before I left Moscow.
Baby is head down and I'm happy for her to cook for another 8 wks.

No way on Earth am I telling DH that baby's head is that low. I value the little bit of a sex life I have left!

I think I will avoid this particular exercise. It might bring on that 'oh my gosh this is really happening' panic attack that I've been expecting for the last 6 months and have yet to have! I could feel my heart speed up a little just reading this from expat-mama (though I also LOL)
