I have chronically painful joints (wrists, elbows, fingers), but it doesn't fit any disease I can google. Tendonitis doesn't go on for years, and arthritis apparently improves with movement. Movement is really bad for me, especially weight bearing.

Yes, I went to the doctor, was told I have arthritis (with no blood test, no referral, two question history). I need to find a new PCP and I want to be prepared this time.

Tendonitis can actually go on for years. I have been dealing with it off and on since 1997.

It could also be carpal tunnel or osteomyelitis (infection of the bursa).

Thatnks for your responses.

Can't be lyme, I'm not in a tick area

Fibromyalgia doesn't fit according to the google description of it. I don't have all-over body aching, and I don't wake up sore.

Carpal tunnel - it's in lots of joints and comes and goes in some. The other night I the last joint on my left little finger was hurting. I may have gone my whole life and never ever used that joint. And there's no tingling, no numbness.

Osteomyelitis - do you get that in lots of joints?

Rainbowmoon, I do NOT want to hear that! Well, I suppose I do in preference to having a degenerative disease like lupus or arthritis, but I want it to be something treatable. I want to be able to do stuff again. Do you get any treatment other than NSAIDs and rest?

Any other suggestions for me to eliminate?

osteomyelitis can cause joint pain. you would probably have bone pain in addition too though.

I use a chiro for my tendonitis and massage.

I have really bad arthritis in my feet, ankles, knees and hips (due to lots of pointe ballet dancing when I was teen and a career on my feet for 10 years) it totally sucks. Some mornings I can hardly walk! While it does get better with movement it doesn't usually go completely away as of lately.unless I break down and take tylenol.

Osteomyelitis is infection of the bone not the Bursa, for the OP Bursitis pain gets worse as the day goes on and not better. I get it a lot in my knees and hips A agree with the arthritis pain feeling better with movement, when I first get up in the morning I HURT, every where, everything is really stiff and stuff but as I start moving around I feel much better but some days, like the past couple of days I have been taking Mortin and 8 hr Tylenol. Weather changes are killer on arthritis, I can tell you a week in advance it if its going to rain or snow. Rain my knees ache all day, snow they burn all day On the flip side I know what the weather is going to be like in the next week
