DD started in a crib in her room at 4 1/2 months and would go to sleep after her regular nightly routine at 7:30. Since the time change, she will not go to sleep until about 9:00 or later. The routine hasn't changed at all. Some friends' babies go to bed around 7/7:30 so I just wanted to find out if we were "keeping" her up to late. So when does your baby go to sleep?

My 8 month old goes to bed around 10. That's just how it works out for us, attempts to get her to sleep sooner have not been successful. She does sleep in later than most babies, til 8 a.m. or later. And I do find that her getting enough sleep, including three solid naps during the day, is very important.

My pediatrician and baby sleep books (Weissbluth, Ferber) do say that typically babies go to bed between 6-8. I say if she's happy and thriving, there is nothing to worry about if her schedule is not perfectly lined up with what is it "supposed" to be.

My just turned 9 month old goes to bed between 5:30 and 6:30, depending on how late her afternoon nap went. She's has this 'early' bedtime for several months now. She's congenial enough that sometimes, if required, she'll be able to stay up til 7 pm, but it's harder to help her get to sleep. But getting ready for bedtime at 5:30, she's quite happy and nurses to sleep easily & quickly. So my preference is the earlier bedtime for her.

DS will go to sleep usually around 8:30, then 30-60 minutes later he's up again, and won't go back to sleep until we go to bed, so around 10:30.

My baby goes to bed at 9, bedtime routine starts at 8:30. This is a little late, but he takes a good 30-45min nap right around 5pm every evening. He is exhausted after daycare (he takes 2 naps there). He wakes up naturally around 7:30-8am, to me I think he is getting plenty of sleep. I plan for his bedtime to always allow for 10-11 hours of nighttime rest. So we will move the time up if for some reason our schedules change and we have to get up earlier in the morning.

soren goes down between 5:30 and 6:30. always heard about babies who go down that early and thought "
" -- but they exist. his body just starts to shut down then and he quickly descends into madness starting around 5:30. last night he napped 'til 4:40, woke up and was back asleep by 6. he just couldn't handle being awake.

and you know what? it's almost 8 a.m. and he's STILL asleep. he just cut a tooth and is getting over a cold. he coughed a lot last night so he's probably making up for the fitful night.

ds1, who is 5, was the 8-9 bedtime guy. still is.

7-8 here. He can make it until 9 if he naps a lot during the day, but usually it's over by 8. He'll usually sleep/wake/sleep/wake, etc. until about 7-8 in the morning. But since he's been crawling like a fiend, he's actually been taking 3 naps during the day.
