This seems really silly, but what do you do right after you dtd? Before TTC, I would typically run to the bathroom to pee, but now I'm wondering if it is better to just lay in bed for awhile.

How soon after an ejaculation will the sperm actually enter the cervix? And stay up in there?

My DR said to lay still on your back for AT LEAST 15 minutes. . . The longer you stay there the better your chance. If you get up and go to the bathroom right away your probably loosing alot of semen right away before it has a chance to get to the cervix.

When I'm not TTC, I run to the bathroom and try to kegel everything out to avoid infections (I get yeast infections easily). While TTC, I lay there for as long as possible. If we DTD at night, I don't get up till the morning. If it's the afternoon, I try to lay down for at least 20 min.

Now don't quote me on this but I thought I remember reading that it takes sperm 1 hour to move 1". Not sure if there is any truth to that.

I hadnt heard about 1 hour -- 1'' . . . It may be true though.
I have heard from a few on here that "pleasuring" yourself (if you know what I mean) after dtd will draw more sperm up to the cervix.

When I'm TTC I try to stay in bed for awhile after. Generally this leads to falling asleep so I don't know how long.

The cycle I got my positive I set an alarm for 20 minutes after we had sex. I would just lay there and talk to DH or read until it went off. I can't leave semen in there because I am prone to getting UTIs. I did that every time we had sex from when I got my positive OPK to when I got my ovulation rise on my chart. It seems to have worked!

I read that is is best to lay down for 30 minutes with a tilted pelvis-so prop a pillow under you.

Sperm are actually quite fast and many will get inside there in a matter of seconds.

Yes, having an orgasm helps suck it up-but it is better to have it at the same time dh finishes. The best positions are missionary and from behind because it allows for a downward flow of the semen. So if you can't get an orgasm the first way try being in the second position and then asking him to tell you right before hefinishes and then make yourself finish at the same time. Does that make sense and am I giving way too much info?

Don't let him finish with you on top or with the both of you standing up. Although people of course get pregnant this way, it is just a good rule of thumb. Hope that helps!

Try to remember to pee before DTD, then you can lay still afterwards without the urge to get up.

OK not to be the bummer person or anything but i have heard it doesn't matter if you get up, lay down or anything of that nature....

At first, I would be sure to stay in bed for as long as I could afterward. After several months of TTC, I decided it didn't matter and would just get up and pee if after we finished. I agree that it doesn't matter.

I think technically it's not supposed to matter. But FWIW, I got pregnant the one month I decided to just stay horizontal, rather than running off to the bathroom the other months.
