We have lots of crab in our freezer and I need to use it up. I don't really want to do crab legs because ds1 is 3 and would have a hard time with that.
Anyone got any good crab dinner ideas? Most of the crab recipies I know are appy's.

I make excellent crab lemongrass tarts... kind of like a quiche. Or if you're looking for simple a cream of crab soup is really easy (basically stock, crab, onions, cream), and great with a loaf of bread and a salad. The other way we eat it around here is over pasta with lots of butter, garlic, onions.

If it's in the shell, I serve it in the shell. If the LO's are going to have difficulty with that, I would expect to help them or clean a couple legs just for them. But most kids I've met like trying to suck the meat out of the shell, and they enjoy getting messy/playing with their food, which crab is great for.

In the shell, I usually roast it in butter and garlic and white wine. Serve either over pasta or with a loaf of bread.

What is it? Have you been missing out on one of the best soups out there? It's creamy, rich, tomato based soup. There's a recipe on my blog.

Backstory: when I was in college, whenever my roommate or I would get money from home, we'd go to the expensive restaurant in town and each order the crab bisque. They always served it with butter crackers. Soooo good. When I was pregnant with DD1, I was having a craving for it, and drove 3 hours just to find that the restaurant had just gone out of business. I was heartbroken. So then I set out to re-create the recipe. And this is the closest I've come. It's a perfect fall/winter soup. Serve with a nice salad and some fresh from the oven bread slathered in butter. Oh man... now I'm drooling on my keyboard.

Since going gluten and dairy free, that's a recipe that I haven't tried to modify. But maybe I should!
