I am not a snacker and never have been, but now that I'm pregnant I'm finding I really need to eat between meals to avoid being nauseous. Since I don't normally snack I'm having a hard time figuring out what to buy. DS eats mostly yogurt and fruit for snacks, both of which make me want to :puke . So I'm looking for some ideas for quick, nutricious snacks - nothing sweet, including fruit, because I can't stomach ANYTHING sweet right now.

Ideas anyone???

Nuts: almonds, walnuts, peanuts (if you can take the smell/taste), brazil nuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds -- they are all high in unsaturated oils and omegas and have good protein, too

Cottage cheese: good protein and calcium

Luna/Clif bars

Hope that helps!

The little cheese sticks that come wrapped individually. Hummus and chips. Avocado dip. Salad with chick peas or hb eggs in it.

I still can't eat sweets too much either and crave protein. (14 weeks)

I mix up a container of ranch dip and keep veggies (celery, carrots, cucumbers etc.) in the fridge to nibble.

Peanut butter and some crackers.

Bagel bites. I use to buy the small bags but now I make my own. Much cheaper and I can control the flavor and the salt content.

Ditto the Clif/Luna bars. Those can be a lifesaver. Cereal bars also are good for a little change.

Luna bars saved me during my last preg tho they are sweet.
I could keep one in my purse and snack on it.

I would say beef jerkey! It travels very well and is loaded with protien and is NOT sweet. Just get the good kind w/o a ton of crap!

things that made me really happy during that phase were:

cottage cheese (although if yogurt makes you hurl, maybe not your ideal food)
celery sticks with almond butter
toast! all hail toast.
baked potatoes with sour cream
grilled cheese sandwiches
baked sweet potatoes.

good luck, mama..

I'm So there with you! I wake up at 4am and eat 2 dry crackers if I can't sleep. Toast is good, carrots, cheese, a nice cup of herbal tea. I hate it when it happens when I'm out, I'm more needy of different choices then my 2 yo LOL I never know what I will feel like but fish and spinach are a safe bet!
