I would like to do a spring nature table for my sons. I could use some ideas. I have a wooden rabbit and a calf that's it so far.

Would anyone be willing to share pics of their nature table?
I need help

Our nature table sort of disolved over the winter. (Mostly due to my two-year-old moving/hiding things! Little scamp! ) I was just feeling inspired the other day to start a new one.

We'll start some wheat grass from seed shortly so I will include that and I will clip some branches around the yard to "force" some blooms. Last year I made felted eggs so if I can find those, I'll add them. We'll be getting chicks soon (late April) so I'll probably incorporate some wooden hens and chicks.

Thanks for the inspiration to think about this. I'm looking forward to having a nature table again!!!

There is a photo of ours on flickr.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/3315113252/

If you look through my photostream you will also see photos of the elements closer.

We have the table draped in pink and blue silks and green fairy wool for greass. I have needle felted Mother Earth and a flower baby in her arms. Also a tiny robin in a nest.
There is our "tree" which has fairy wool buds on it which we'll add more to for leaves as the year progresses. Also a few bare branches and a bit of wool snow in patches as it is still fairly cold out here.

In a few weeks we'll take away the snow, add some tiny eggs to the nest and add some root children and a sewn felt bunny. We are also planting a bulb this weekend in a small pot to have something actually growing on there.

This will be my first nature table ever, done for an almost one-year-old, no less One thing I know for sure that I am doing is we have a large, low planter dish (plastic, but oh well, Im not buying a new one) & I bought a fairy garden seed mix. I will plant those & hopefully be able to find a tiny bag of plain grass seeds (not wheat grass, regular grass, it's smaller and thinner) to plant w/ them to make our own indoor fairy garden I will have to start making some things as the time goes along. I collect bunnies for her, so there will be bunnies on the table, for sure.

We don't have any gnomes or fairies or anything like that yet. I bought her some pocket gnomes on sale, but they are put away for Christmas (along w/ stacking houses, heehee). A nature table may be the perfect excuse to buy this b/c it is so cute and wonderful & I love it! I could keep it up all year and decorate around it

We didn't do a winter table at all because of moving things around and what not. But we did an autumn one and the way I did it was to put things on the table that we found when we were out for walks.

I think I will try doing mostly that for spring too, like a branch with buds, and an early spring flower, and stuff like that. I like it being mostly "found" objects, although our autumn table had some gourds we *bought* from the farmer's market.

This is ours right now

http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/3317331362/

The pinecones are our natural "found" objects this time of year. I got the chunks/scraps of wood at a local burlwood shop and a wonderful Etsyian made the root children. At the equinox we'll change it over to Spring, it's our "transition to Spring" table ...

Pablohoney's cool new felt figures inspired me to try my hand at needle-felting in preparation for our very first table this spring. I may have a new addiction!!!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/3316552133/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3097561...n/photostream/

(and here it is with a face--I got rid of the face because I think it spoiled the calm effect and made it look creepy!: http://www.flickr.com/photos/3097561...n/photostream/)

I don't have any pics as I will enjoy every last drop of winter we get until the 20th. LOL. Some other things we have put on in the past would be felted or felt-sewn birds, eggs of some type, possibly a nest of some sort for the eggs to go into. I have little spring-inspired (pastels and some bright color) people that go on there. Sometimes I have out a little house for them to be in (at the moment either a mushroom or hollow log) so I'll sort of arrange them around that. A tiny felted baby bunting for the people. Mostly I arrange it, then my kids turn it all around into a jumble. LOL.

Oh, and pastel/spring color playsilks will cover the table, sometimes behind it, or a heap of a green one to be more like a mound of green earth.

And thanks to dd, there are always little sticks on it.

I can't wait to see everyone else's photos! I get a lot of inspiration from etsy, too. I try not to buy too much that I can make myself, but sometimes the temptation is too strong.
