I was wondering what toothpaste to use that is Natural and Sugar Free. We have recently been trying to use sugar free toothpaste with my dd who is 2. I have been recently using one that is made for toddlers up to age 3 that I got as a trial tube from bru but we don't have one near by. we live in a rural area of NC and well there's not much near by us. Just wondering which ones would be best to use for her.

Thanks..

Alright, I just went to our cupboard and found 3 brands that we have on hand:

Doctor Burt's (Burt's Bees) orange cream. No flouride. Ingredients: filtered water, vegetable glycerin, calcium carbonate (natural chalk), bentonite (natural clay), orange oil, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), yucca extract, vegetable oil & beta carotene, xanthan gum.

Tom's of Maine. Silly Strawberry. No flouride. Ingredients: glycerin, water, calcium carbonate (chalk), hydrated silica, fruit extracts (strawberry, banana, and other natural flavors), carrageenan (seaweed), sodium lauryl sulfate (from coconut oil)

Earth's Best (JASON's). Strawberry and banana. No flouride. Ingredients: vegetable glycerin, aqua (purified water), xylitol, panthenol (vit. B5), cellulose gum, oat beta-glucan, calcium lactate, natural strawberry and banana flavor.

We haven't tried the Jason's one yet, but both of my dc like the other two just fine. They probably prefer the Silly Strawberry one. Neither foam up so the kids like that. We've been using natural toothpastes now for over 2 years and no cavities. In fact, the kids were just to the dentist yesterday and the dentist said their teeth are awesome!!

My family and I formed a buying club through Frontier. We place an order every month or two of over $250 so we can get free shipping. We also get their wholesale prices. That's why we have such a toothpaste collection

I think Target might carry the Tom's of Maine. Maybe even Wal-mart if you shop there.

Burt's has a website with a clearance section. I haven't checked it out for a long time, but you might find some deals there.

Thanks so much. I'll check them both out today or tomorrow if I head into town. We do have a Wal-mart and a target here and I know that we will be needing some more other than the little tube we have. My MIL keeps purchasing the ones that have all the sugar in them but I keep telling her that my dd doesn't need all of the sugar in the first place. Uggh..But thank you for the information. I so appreciate it. I'll let you know where I find them out. Thanks again!

We've been using Spry products, which contain Xylitol. The kids' pediatric dentist/ortho recommends the products, and I was using them before they started seeing him. They also have a mouthwash and gum. The gum is even safe for braces wearers! Anway, I don't know if there's anything in the Spry toothpaste you are trying to avoid, but there is NO sugar (and Xylitol fights the cavity causing bacteria based on molecular makeup). I chose it also because it doesn't have flouride in it, but some mothers definitely want the extra flouride. If it helps to know, both of my kids (12 and 13 years old) were breastfed a combined time of over 3 1/2 years, and had strong teeth and gums, and neither of them have a single cavity or filling in their mouths, and our primary dental health is Spry, because of the Xylitol (Trident is now making their "old" gum w/ xylitol).
