My mom was in town a week ago and she taught my LO how to high five. It is sooooo endearing, and he loves it. I have a friend who taught her LO how to give kisses.

What are some other ideas? I would love to teach him more cute gestures or ways to engage.

At around 3 months I taught my dd to "eat her feet" when I change her diaper. It is adorable
, but I really did it so that she would keep her feet out of the way (and out of the poop
).

We do the "how big is Charlotte?" and she puts her hands up over her head and we say "so big!"

We have also been clapping her feet together and singing a song about her "piggy toes" since she was born. When she gets out of the bath she now claps her own feet together while I sing the song. It is the BEST!

We never really taught her anything, but my babe has come up with ways to engage all on her own. She started waving a few months ago and it is super cute. She does it to strangers all the time.

She also claps, and is now starting to "dance". Once she realizes she gets a good reaction from something, she keeps doing it.

When Skyy starts to cry we will play the drum for him, and one day I started bopping my head to it, with a silly face to make him stop crying. He started laughing and copying me. Now at 7 months, he does that on his own everytime he hears music or anything rhythmic, including the blender. If he's standing, it turns into an all-over bopping that looks like dancing. It's adorable. When we were in the mall the other day, he was in daddy's arms, and I look over at him, he's bopping... Then I realized there was music playing softly in the store. I hadn't noticed it, but he did!

when DS1 was around the same age as OPs LO, we taught him to clapp his hands when we say YEAAAAA!!! It was so darned cute. simple, but very effective at deterring crying for minor reasons.

Another one was when we would say AHHHHH, he would lay his head down, on a our shoulder, or just to the side. Also good attention getter.

Poppy dances too
so cute. She waves, high fives and claps as well as givving kisses. She also does this cute share thing where she will give you something, shout at you until you take it and then shout at you until you give it back
she mimicks really well too, she clicks, and makes funny voises with her mouth and my dh and her play a game where he makes a tune and she tries to copy it, shes pretty good too.
