well, i am excitedly convinced we may have succeeded at conceiving on the first try. this may be a whole lot of wishful thinking and mind over matter, no big announcements yet, but even if we aren't we will be, soon

So I am wondering,

did you know you were with child before taking a test (if you took one or not)? What signs did your body (or mind) give you?

even if you didn't know before a test, in retrospect what physical & emotional changes occured?

this will be our second baby, so you'd think i would remember. but the first few weeks i knew i was pregnant were such a blur to me. i did know, before a test, but only because i was on the pill at the time and i took the little green pills and no AF came.:

TIA, perhaps i will be posting for real in this forum soon!

I got overly emotional and high strung

Seriously, with ds#1 I could not figure out why I was being such a b*tch and so demanding. I had just graduated from college and had a major meltdown on my sister about nothing. I made her take me home (no car, at another sister's house...required driving during the night, etc.). A few days later it occurred to me that I hadn't seen AF in about 6-8 weeks...tested and sure enough I was pregnant

With ds#2, I was trying to conceieve and just knew (hoped) and it was true.

I also gained 10 pounds out of the gate with both:

With 1, 2 & 3 it was sore boobs every time and I knew I was pg before testing. With #3 I knew right away and tested positive days before AF was due.
With #4 I had no signs or symptoms until AF was late - I was still nursing DD so I think that kept the sore boobs away.

I didn't know I was pg either time because I was totally surprised both times. But my earliest symptoms were dizziness, fatigue, and stomach cramping/twinges. I had the dizziness before I tested the first time but didn't know it was a sign of pg and thought maybe I had vertigo because I was sick at the time. This itme I had the stomach stuff and thought it reminded me pf pg but was sure it was just AF cramps. Surprise! This time my symptoms have been far less pronounced. I tested both times after AF was late 3 days and got a glaring positive each time.

Good luck to you! When are you planning on testing? Let us know - I can't stand suspense!!

Well, mine will sound a little more "new-agey" but here it goes:
Felt like it was an "open" time. We were out in nature, spending two months pretty much alone as a family. Talked about "trying", did try, and once right after "trying" I saw a spark. Granted I never overtly "tried" to conceive my other two, so I didn't notice as much w/them. OH, also dh rubbed my tummy soon after that day and said "hi baby". He has only done that one other time, and that was right after we conceived ds.

I didn't actually feel that much different. Boob sensitivity didn't start right away this time. I did have a little nausea...couldn't figure out why the fridge smell made me want to vomit!! I wasn't actually that tired or anything else until a while after I had tested.

oh yes, and each preg., I have dreamed before missing a period or testing that I was preg. This time was no different. HTH and that you get the result that is right for you and yours.

this is going to sound strange but about a week after I conceived I had a low-grade fever for a few days. I remember going to the doctor's office for just a regular check up and him checking my temperature and finding it was 100! He asked if I felt ok and I said yes! This is probably just a weird coincidence - not the norm...

With both my pregnancies, around 8 dpo I started waking up with a sort of electric current/hot feeling in my body. It's hard to explain, but it's like a cross between feeling like I'm coming down with something and feeling like I've stayed up all night.

With both, I've been queasy.

With this second pregnancy, I've added dizzy to the list and the round ligament pain started about 7 dpo. I don't remember that with ds until about 6 weeks.

Suffice it to say that by the time AF didn't roll around, testing was just a formality.

Good luck! (and keep us posted!)

Sore boobs and heartburn. I had never had either one before to any extent, so it made me very suspicious!

And we did get pregnant on the very first try.

Yes, before I was even late I would feel dizzy and sick and more tired than usual.

well, thanks for all the replies! i am kicking myself because i cannot tell if i am overanalyzing my bodily symptoms. I feel naseuous (all day, just starting this morning) and a little bloated. i have circles under my eyes, which is weird for me.

i have to restrain myself to keep from going and buying another test- the one i got the other day was defective (generic, too) so i must not be meant to know yet.

I am trying to figure why it means so much that i know for sure before i am too attached to the idea, it is not like we could not try again next time. its hard to imagine that my 40 weeks (or more) could already have begun, clock ticking on my second pregnancy! someday i will look back and think why was i in such a hurry? it goes by sooo fast.

i feel weird but am not sure it is is excitement or not. also, when i brushed my teeth this morning my gums bled so bad that i thought i had cut myself open!

wish me luck, tabitha

With my first two pregnancies, I knew about 5 days post-conception, thanks to sore nipples. I think I ovulated last wednesday, and by Friday, I "felt" different, I felt a stirring, like something "going on" inside me, way down deep (I don't mean digestive things). Since then, I've just felt foggy. We aren't really trying, but sorta want to conceive sometime in the next year. I'm dying to get a test, but it's too early anyway. My nipples aren't sore, but Friday night I felt like I was going to throw up.

I went to put on a nice suit for an important meeting and the waistband was very snug, like I had gone up a half a size. Later that week a friend announced that she was due in December. I got to thinking that I couldn't remember when my visitor came last. So on a lark I took a test. I sat in the living room just dazed looking at the two lines. I still wasn't convinced so I took a test at a clinic then called my doctor and had another one done. After 4 years, we didn't think it was possible.

It seems that started gaining weight from conception because by the time my third month rolled around, I was in maternity clothes. I also had an uncontrollable appetite. I had to eat nearly every two hours. I was also exhausted all the time. On the weekend I could sleep for 14 hours dead to the world. At first I thought I had the flu. Gee, some flu.
