How wide is a "typical" men's scarf? I am knitting a simple scarf in baby alpaca using 2 strands-garter stitch lenghwise-I made it 60" in length which seems consistant with patterns I have seen-but the widths are all over the place. What do you think is a reasonable width?

Depends on where the guy lives ~ mild winters 6" would be great, cold winters up to 12" would work better.
