The baby is moving - but not as much as usual today. I've had water, sugar, layed down, etc. But all day long she's been very subdued and I don't know - weak - feeling. Do I want to panic and go in for monitoring or do I want to chill out and figure she's just sleepy today? She also seems to be in a new position - which could be an explanation.

I do have a two vessel cord - which makes me more nervous then usual. What would you do?

My baby goes through patterns of more activity and then less. He'll be really active for 3 or so days and then a little more mellow. My M/W said this is actually a good sign. During those more mellow periods he is probably going through a growth spurt. However, each baby has their own pattern. If your baby was normally really active, all the time, every day and you feel like that has significantly changed than that probably is something to be addressed. Not sure if you would necessarily need fetal monitoring. You should talk to your provider about that. But as you said, if she is in a new position that may have something to do with it as well. I know that at some point if you don't feel ANY movement in a 6 hour period that can be cause for concern, but I'm not sure when that is supposed to start. And it sounds like you are still feeling movement, just not as strong. I know my babe is often more active in the evening when I am still, so hopefully as the night progresses you will feel more action. If you keep worrying maybe you could just call your provider, nurse, the head nurse on call at a local hospital, etc.

Honestly? I would go in and get checked out. For peace of mind, more than anything. It's probably nothing at all to worry about, but I follow the whole 'better safe than sorry' philosophy.

I went in with my first son when I didn't notice him moving for several hours. Turned out he was just fine, but I wasn't until I knew he was ok. I went in twice in one weekend with DS2 around the halfway point in my pregnancy. I was having some major discomfort in my cervix area and had no idea what it was, plus thought I might be leaking fluid. Again, turned out to be nothing, but I don't regret going at all. It meant I could sleep that night and know my baby was ok, KWIM?

Good idea! I find my baby does the biggest cardio workout when I'm trying to settle down in bed. He loves me that much

Well after dinner she did some more position changing and got a good case of the hiccups - so I'm going to assume all is well.
Thanks for the advice - I don't usually worry much but I got a good case of preggo jitters today for some reason.

I would take a listen with my fetoscope if I was really worried, but otherwise I'd shrug it off - sometimes I'll go most of a day without noticing any movement at all! Just because I'm busy, or distracted, or the baby is having a slow day. I have slow days too.

Sometimes I start to worry a little.... I give myself a certain amount of time to wait (for something like that usually 6-12 hours) and then really worry and do something. I haven't actually had to DO anything first or so far in this second pregnancy.

I'm glad the baby moved and you feel better!

I'm so glad to hear you are feeling more movement...wonderful! One thing that always gets my babies moving is ice water. I read it online that if you don't think there is much movement drink ice water and lay down on your left side.
