So...on the tails of various other threads, what's everybody eating these days? Hmmm? The good AND the bad :LOL
I usually have a couple eggs for breakfast, a cup of joe, and maybe 1/2 a bagle, Dal soup for lunch (i am obsessed with it!) and a huge salad with beans, veggies etc, or some tofu product and rice. If I miss a meal I usually have a protien smoothie, and if I need a snack, its almonds or bavarian pretzles. I have been drinking tons of water b/c I have been SO thirsty!

Oh, and I'm loving twizlers right now... :

Almost nothing tastes good this time around so I"ve been eating kind of weird. Cheerios and milk for breakfast. Fruit for morning snack. Today for lunch I had veggie sushi with lots of wasabi...yum. Fruit or a power bar for snack. and who knows for dinner. Salad is good...sometimes scrambled eggs with cheese...the other night I had ice cream (I know, really healthy, huh?).

Reading this makes it look like I'm eating terribly but I have been eating a lot of fruits and nuts and brocolli. I think I'm snacking a lot.

My first pregnancy I could eat almost anything ...I loved pizza. This time around tomato sauce seems to make me sick. And I'm nasueous all the time!

Sorry for the whine.

I'm been into peanut butter on whole wheat toast and a big glass of orange juice for breakfast.

Lunch is maybe a cheese and veggie omelet; tortilla chips with a big bowl of refried beans mixed with cheese, tomato, peppers, etc.; a veggie and cheese wrap. I've also been into jumbo salads with chopped hardboiled eggs, cheese, veggies, croutons.

Dinner is whatever I'm making for the family plus a jumbo glass of milk. I'm totally into chocolate milk right now.

Snacks ... well, tons of fruit but also way too much ice cream and chips! I strive to meet all my food groups each day and then allow myself however much junk I can squeeze in there!

I'm not full out nauseous, but nothing "sounds good" kwim? I am always trying to think of what I could force myself to eat. Had a turkey sandwich for lunch and 3 hard boiled eggs for breakfast. I am planning chicken in a creamy pasta for dinner. I usually eat tons of salad but it just seems so unappetizing. All veggies are just seeming yucky in principle right now (normally I eat them all!), but fruits still appeal. I bought nectarines, organic raspberries (yum!) and grapes today. And yogurt.

I hate this stage. I generally have a pretty healthy relationship with food and the first trimester of pregnancy makes me a freak. All I think about is how I don't want to eat and what I could eat. Crazy! It's like I have an eating disorder.

I typically do not eat much meat. I have gone in and out of vegetarians eating. During pregnancy I am always out!!! I love eggs, nuts and meat right now. It is crazy!! I guess my body just needs a bit extra right now

I also eat lots of fruits/veggies. I have been craving ice cream, so I have some after dinner. I typically do not like ice cream, so that is also weird for me :

I've been eating a ton of cereal and bananas! I've been all over the place otherwise w/what I've been eating. Ice cream sandwiches have been a big hit in our house lately - for me and the kids!

Hmmm.... Breakfast for me has been gallo pinto (a yummy rice and bean breaky dish I picked up in Costa Rica) and a piece of toast with cottage cheese. I have been craving pizza all the time and have given in a lot for lunch (they sell slices next door to my office). Otherwise I have also been eating a lot of Thai Kitchen rice noodle soups with tofu. Dinner has been salad and some kind of veggie protein - tofu, boca burgers/patties, etc.

I still worry that I am not getting enough protein being a vegetarian. I feel like I am constantly stuffing myself with protein-rich foods, but it never seems to add up to 75g. Are any other veggies worried about this?

Yep, me! That's why I use the protien smoothies. I use a sugar free whey protien (2 scoops=40g of protien!) I also eat eggs when I am pg. I crave them like crazy! Seems kind of symbolic...

I am still having major food aversions and nausea.
Breakfast is usually cinnamon taost and fruit, then an hour later mutligrain pancakes (I need to eat roughly ever hour), lunch is usually a chicken meal, and I try to get some broccoli. I snack on fruit a lot, appleas and pears, then in the afternoon a pb&j. Supper is usually a meat and veggies thing, with more fruit before bed.

Wow - i really need to improve my eating -you all are sooo healthy.
I've just been feeling so nauseous that all I can stomach has been carbs - toast, rolls, pretzels, crackers. I try to get a little peanut butter on them for some protein.

DH is watching me like a hawk and trying to make sure I eat enough and enough of the right stuff - pre-preg - I loved veggies, fruit, hummus - but I just had a big plate last night for the first time since the positive test. Today has been the first day I've really been HUNGRY!

I had half a turkey/cheese sandwich on whole wheat sunflower bread, some grapes and strawberries, then a container of yogurt. Just finished lunch which was a huge mozarella/tomato sandwich on a big french roll - at least there was protein and calcium in the sandwich. Snacking on a couple cookies too - which is also a first for the last 8 weeks.

Since we're going to a ballgame tonight, dinner will probably be a grilled chicken sandwhich or a cheeseburger- and I'll try to get in some more fruit and veggie for an afternoon snack. Oh yeah - And I've been really good about drinking a big glass of chocolate milk on ice on my drive in to work.

Anybody else trying to give up diet coke? I've been limiting myself to about 6 or 8 oz. a day - down from 3 or 4 12 oz. cans a day. I'm more worried about all the chemicals/fake sugar than the caffeine.

Hi Hokie-

I know exactly what you mean about the carbs, I did that during my first pregnancy. I have been lucky this time....

I went off cold turkey on coffee and diet soda - like you said, the chemicals really scare me. To wean myself off of my daily morning buzz, I drank green tea (some caffeine, but a lot less than soda and coffee) in the morning until my caffeine withdrawals subsided.

Good luck with your soda!!

BTW- Tofumama, what do you mix into your whey protein shakes? I have tried flavored soy milk, plain yogurt, bananas, but nothing seems to sit right with me.... Have you found anything that works for you? Thanks!!

I have been eating real weird stuff. Nothing sounds good. Usually I just force myself to eat it anyway and then throw it up later.

I have been eating lots of fruit. Apples, papayas, mango (all ice cold for some reason). Any fruit is good. Salad is good too, but without croutons. For some reason croutons are really grossing me out - and tomatoes.

I have been eating lots of cheese and bread, hummous and fresh, cold veggies. Miso soup with rice, veggie sushi, with the occasional mahi mahi. Pot roast sounds really good. And a nice plate lunch with mac salad and tobasco sauce. Ok, so basically anything that grossed me out pre-pregnancy is A-OK while pregnant. Oh, when will the madness end?! :LOL

This is my recipie
1 cup of rice milk
1/2 cup of spring water
2 scoops of whey powder (I get banana or strawberry flavor)
a spoon or 2 of yogurt
sometimes I will throw in a handful of froz. berries, but most days I don't
That works for me!
You can also throw in some ice cubes to make it more milkshake-like

What I eat changes day to day... which drives me a bit crazy! I am having crazy cravings, which become tomorrow's aversions...

I think one constant is fruit - lots of it! Blueberries & grapes are a fave so far. I'm also really into pea pods & fiddleheads, with the odd cob of corn thrown in. I find that I'm really craving protein a lot with this baby, so beans & veggie burgers are also high up on my list of "must haves".

Thanks, TM. I had been reluctant to try the fruit-flavored shakes, but I will give them a try!

BTW- My new thing has been Boca Soy Buffalo Wings.... yummmmy!!
