Need some help!

My DS (15 mo) has fever of 102. Flushed red cheeks. Nursing like crazy. Not playing. Little appetite. Very irritated, crying. Sleeping a lot.

No signs of a cold. No bowel movement today.

What the heck is this? We just moved and don't have a doctor.
I'm not sure what to do!

Has he gotten his molars yet? My DS cut his 4 molars and 4 canines all between 14 and 15 months. He was a lot like that during that month, feverish, not interested in food but interested in pacifiers/bottles/anything he could suck/chew on. Cranky, clingy, and - when I could finally get him to sleep - he would sleep a LOT.

Could it be roseola?

About three days of inexplicable high fever, and then after the fever breaks, a rash appears, which confirms the diagnosis. 15 months would be within the right age bracket for it...one of my babes had it at about 11 months. I just held her, nursed her, applied cool compresses, and she was fine.

Hugs mama! I hope you can find what it is, and that your little one is all better soon! If you get really concerned you can always try phoning a doctor's office and asking to talk to a nurse over the phone. I know you said you don't have a doctor yet, but they might let you do that much.

PLEASE take your baby to an urgent care clinic or after hours clinic if you can't get into a family dr's clinic.

I got sick Friday afternoon. By Friday night I had chills and was miserable. By Saturday, my throat was on fire. My Saturday evening, my face looked (literally) like a tomato - it was beet red and starting to swell. By Sunday morning when I got up, I looked like I'd gained 30 lbs - my face was swollen horribly, and the redness was then going down my chest and shoulders. I caved and went to the urgent care clinic (I'd been holding out thinking that the whole thing was just a bad cold and would pass w/in @ 72 hours).

Diagnosis? SEVERE strep throat and scarletina on top of it (caused by the strep throat). If I'd gone Friday evening, I would be feeling great today - and my nine yo dd wouldn't have it (we did catch hers immediately though - when she said she had a sore throat, we took her straight to the family dr's office this morning).

My face is still red and splotchy (it's Monday night now as I'm typing this). I have tons of little bumps all over my face, neck, and chest, and it ITCHES. ANd I have a week of this to look fw to and then a great icky peeling of the skin (like a sunburn) once the seven days passes. YUCK.

All this to say - I can't even imagine what it would be like to have been that sick and not be able to communicate to anybody that it was my throat hurting so badly (it literally felt like I had glass shards in my throat, and the nurse said it was almost swollen closed when she checked me Sunday morning).

The nursing lots but no appetite sounds like me - I couldn't eat but was so thirsty I couldn't stand it. I drank and drank and drank water and tea, but nothing helped me feel any better.

PLEASE take your baby b/c if the baby has strep, that would just be horrible to have to go through for days w/ no way to communicate it.

And for what it's worth, I'm one of those people who generally avoids the dr like the plague!

I forgot to put in my reply - the nurse told me when you have a horrible sore throat but no other signs of a cold (stuffy head, sinus pressure, icky cough, or runny/stuffy nose - then it's usually strep for sure and to get seen w/in 24 hours for antibiotics for best results).

DD had same symptoms at beginning of March. But, I would also second calling a ped...
