I have lots of fingering and sport weight yarn that I would like to make some newborn (0-3 or 3-6 month) sweaters, hats and booties with for my #2 coming in Dec. Anyone have a favorite pattern (free ones would be great) that would be warm enough for december using fingering or sport weight yarn?

I am currently making this baby yoda sweater for a GF who's due in Dec. I also plan to do this blanket and some grandma's favorite washcloths for both mama and baby.

I have made the baby bolero, petal bibs and scalloped trimmed hat from One Skein, which were SUPER DUPER EASY to work up.

That's all the suggestions this newbie has. I can't wait to see what other patterns are suggested since I am always looking for my next project.

I'd check out Debbie Bliss's books from the library: she works in 4ply a lot, especially for baby clothes. I haven't found so many free patterns, though.

Mason Dixon Knitting has a really cute kimono pattern. I have it checked out from my library.

I've been itching to knit the baby's first tattoo cardigan from SnB since I first opened the book.... if you're looking for something a little less traditional that might satisfy.

Thank you for all of your suggestions. I have requested books from the library based on your recommendations and am doing the baby yoda sweater now...so far looks really cute!
