I'm startign to think about this baby coming (especially sicne I've been having painful b-h the past two days!! UGH! Too soon, they didn't start with ethan till 24 weeks and he was born 10 weeks later!!) Anyway, what's your favorite newborn system, and you favorite postpartum mama pads?

I actually used prefolds immediately post partum. I thought they would be way to big, but Nadia arrived before my post partum pads did, and a friend of mine said that's what she used, so I gave it a shot. They really weren't that bulky. Certainly MUCH more comfortable than disposable pads! As my flow decreased, I went from Premium CPFs to Infant CPFs to a folded wash cloth. They stayed put remarkably well, too. They only time I had a problem was with the wash cloths falling out as I was pulling my underwear down to pee.

I also used 3 Rhythm & Blues Pads that I already had, and they worked fine. If I were expecting again, I'd probably order more of those, especially the lighter flow ones to replace the wash cloths.

Having just gone through this.................

I love Rhythm n Blues pads! They are excellent. I got mine from www.naturalbabies.com.

For Becca, I loved Kissaluvs with Proraps since they kept everything away from her cord. I found out at about 4-5 days that I could snappi a CPF and use the proraps and that works great too. It depends how big your baby is though. I bought preemie CPFs thinking I could use them for a few weeks and she wore them maybe a handful of times at most. She was just too big.

I used infant 4x8x4 ucpf's and kissaluvs size 0 with bummis whisper pants. This worked great. I also had proraps at 1st but they irritated ds' skin.

I know that Kissaluvs are really popular for newborns, and they are really cute....but they didn't work for our babe. They would take forever to dry, and I didn't like the bulk. So I was glad that we only bought a few to try out at first.

Anyway, we were happy with Luke's Drawers Newborn Hugs paired with newborn or small bummis SWW.

For mamacloth, I got the postpartum package of Heavenly Hemp from MOm and Me. Very soft and comfortable, but they were a little too wide for me (I'm petite).

If you go with heavenly hemp, I would not bother getting the mama pad bag from her. Even though the pads were fine, the bag was shoddily sewn : and not practical because it only had a single snap for closure. Go instead with a zippered mama bag, like Happy Tushies.
