I've been taking CLO (pill form) for a couple of months and would really like to get my DD to start to take it as well. She is 18 months and will normally eat anything, but is typically too busy playing to stop and actually get food into her mouth. I don't want to give her a pill 'cause I don't want her to choke on it, so I'm thinking I need to get some liquid CLO but how much? And is there such a thing as "too soon"? I know that Vitamin A can be powerful vitamin in too large a dose.

Anyone wanna share when/how they got their kids to start CLO?

My kids don't take it because I didn't learn about TF when they were little and now have very strong opinions about food flavors and textures.

I personally would give CLO as soon as the baby is old enough for solids. I wouldn't give it before 6 or 7mo because the baby wouldn't be ready for anything other than mama milk. For a baby on formula anyway (as a supplement or otherwise) that wouldn't be an issue.

But I have heard of people giving CLO even younger than that, as it's an oil, and proteins are typically the components that cause allergies and other "leaky gut" problems. I would certianly give CLO to a young baby if ther was a true medical reason to need a vitamin D supplement.

In any case, 18mo is plenty old enough for CLO but still young enough to probably try new foods and textures. I wish I could convince my 11yo to take it!

we get "Children's DHA" from Nordic Naturals.
It's strawberry flavored and dd LOVES it! She ALWAYS says "more" after her morning dose. It's the only candy type flavor she ever gets!!

My children call the NN children's strawberry capsules "fish candy," LOL! They love them. I prefer giving them the liquid Blue Ice BO/CLO, but I have to mix with something strong like pesto to disguise the overpowering fishiness of it. If they're having something flavorful that day, I will go for the Blue Ice; otherwise I give them a couple of strawberry capsules for the DHA.

Do the strawberry capsules tase like fish? Are they for swallowing or chewing or what? What would the appropriate doses be for a 42lb 5yo and a 70 lb 11yo?

I have an 11yo with ADD that I'm certain would benefit from CLO. I purchased the strawberry liquid DHA from Nordic Naturals and she HATED the taste- I ended up finishing it myself because none of my kids would touch it.
