My own experience is that it has not harmed my PUL or my hemp, but I have heard people say it can, so it's a risk you take. Hemp is supposed to be this super strong fiber. I don't see how something with a rep for being so strong is so easily ruined, but maybe hemp really isn't as strong as they say it is? I dunno....
And I think there are different grades of PUL (more layers/less layers) and I know that PUL can be defective (or have heard of it peeling off when it shouldn't) but the PUL on my stuff seems very sturdy.
I use it occasionally with no problems. I tend to believe that the holes in the hemp had some other factor involved then just oxyclean. Especially considering some use bleach on their hemp and that doesn't cause holes so how could gentle oxyclean do that?
I have used oxyclean on ALL my diapers- including SOS's, Sugarpeas, Bummis covers, and Lukes Drawers Diapers. Never a problem. I too think there was something else involved to cause a problem. I have heard some moms leaving diapers in the pail for too long(like 2+ weeks) and getting holes that way- must be from the ammonia. Maybe they used oxyclean too and thought it was the oxyclean?
I have gotten clothing given to me stained or stained clothing myself and let them sit for 2-3 DAYS
in oxyclean to get out the stains and never had any problems- I don't see how oxyclean in a wash load could ever do any thing- but then again maybe it is just me
