Hi everyone, I am new here and so glad that I joined

I was curious, when did any of you start to show. I am around 11 weeks...my first...and there are days when I am sure that I must be starting to show. And then there are those days when I wonder if I just 'wish' I was showing already, and that what I see is distended bowels/bloating/too much ice cream

Thanks!

With my first, I was about 14 weeks before i started showing. With my second, I was about 11 weeks when i started "pooching" and by 14 weeks obviously pregnant. With my current pregnancy, i am 12.5 weeks and showing when I want to advertise, but still able to hide it if I want too. I don't expect to be able to lead this double life much longer

I think I started to show (and to me only) in my fourth month and then by my fifth month there was a definate pooch there that was visible if I lifted my shirt. I was definately showing in the sixth month. I had a 9.5 baby, too but it really all depends on your body. Firt time pregnancies tend to show later than subsequent ones.

It probably is distended bowels and bloating, but IMO, that still counts as "show" :) I'm around the same timeframe as you, and definately starting to pouch out. I'm very round waisted anyway, but the GAP maternity jeans I fit feel great! I'm totally out of my fitted clothes, and into elastic waisted pants and skirts, and "big" clothes that set on my hips (with my belly bump sticking out.)

Well I am 28 weeks along (just started my third trimester ) and for about the past week I have been getting the "you are finally looking pregnant" thing. However, I think I started showing (at least to myself and my dh) somewhere between 14 and 16 weeks. I am pretty tall and slim so the baby had alot of vertical movement available in those early weeks.

Congratulations by the way!

well, I'm short, and thick waisted (which is not to say that I'm fat, just that I always have a belly no matter how thin I am), so even though I'm only 12 weeks with my first, I look more like 4 or 5 months! I got asked if I was expecting at 10 weeks, so I guess that's when I started to show. I am wearing maternity clothes almost exclusively now.

Well, I am "thick", but some of my pre-preg pants still fit o.k. I have two pair of semi low rise khakis from the gap that were a little big when I got them, and that I am just now filling the waist of. I stick out pretty far when standing (part baby, mostly fat and guts moving around). When I lay down, the chub moves and I can see the really baby pooch :LOL I, by my own calculations, am measuring large (about 15-16 weeks), but that is normal for me.

I think I started to show before I even peed on a stick By week 9 I definetly didn't fit my clothes and by week 10 it was obvious to other people. I think it depends on your body type. I'm somewhat tall and pre-pregnancy about 130lbs and small boned so it showed a bit earlier.

It has been really different for me with each pregnancy. With my first, I started getting a little pooch at about 13 weeks and was in maternity clothes full-time by 16 weeks. I started out very thin, though.

With this pregnancy, I started out about 4 pounds heavier than I did with my first. I swore I was showing -- and was actually in "transition" maternity jeans -- at 9 weeks. I must have been retaining a lot of fluid or something, though, because after about a week I was back to normal, and I didn't really start showing until at least 18 weeks. I was still wearing some of my regular clothes until about 20 weeks, and I probably could have hidden my pregnancy if I wanted to until about 26-28 weeks. Very weird, and unusual for a second pregnancy -- usually, women find that they show earlier with second pregnancies.

I think that when you will need maternity clothes also has a lot to do with what kind of clothes you normally wear. If you favor things like jeans, tailored pants, shirts that tuck in, etc., you will find that you outgrow your clothes earlier. If you wear skirts/pants with elastic waists or lots of dresses, you will probably be able to last longer in your non-maternity clothes.

At around 9-10 weeks, people who knew me could tell b/c my belly really pooched out. I'm only 13 weeks now, and I wear maternity pants b/c I have such a pooch. I think I just look fat so I make an effort to wear clothes that make the pregnancy obvious I wouldn't say I'm showing since it would be EXTREMELY easy to hide, and it takes an observant person to see that I'm pregnant and not just gaining weight.

It sure is a different look in the AM when I get dressed b/c I look a whole lot more pregnant by the time I get home from work

This is my second pregnancy, but the first only made it to 10 weeks. Apparently I have a more anteverted uterus than normal (per my OB), and I'm short waisted (even though I'm about 5'9") which makes the pooching more obvious.

With Eli, I started losing weight right away (hyperemesis) so it was very obvious to anyone who knew me that the belly was getting bigger around 8 weeks (because the rest of me was getting smaller so quickly). I *needed* maternity pants at 8 weeks. By 16 weeks people were asking when I was due (followed by "oh, are you having twins?" ) and by 25 weeks they were saying things like "Don't have that baby here!" and "You shouldn't be out so close to your time!"

When I got pregnant with him, I was 5'1", 220# but with a very large build (scary huge bones and lots of muscle) and an hourglass figure. (Huge boobs, tiny waist, huge bubble butt).

This time, I started off the pregnancy about 12 pounds heavier (232) but with a flabby belly; I didn't look pregnant until I was fully 15 weeks, just fat. I couldn't wear my regular pants, but I still looked fat. :LOL Apparently right now I look exactly the way someone who is 8.5 months pregnant should look. No one is surprised at all, no one has asked if I'm having twins or why I don't look pregnant. I guess the way I look right now is what people have in mind when they think of someone who is 8.5 months.

w/ PG #1 I was 6½months the first time anyone was brave enought to ask... I noticed it myself at about 4½onths...

but this time...

between7-9 weeks. Tons of moms on babycenter experienced the same thing and, believe it or not, some of them were first time moms. MW says it's bloating from progesterone, for some women constipation plays a part.

this is my first pregnancy... my belly's been slowly growing over the first trimester, and it's acquired a "pregnant" shape in the last couple weeks (i'm at 16 weeks now).

i just looked down in the shower one day and realized i had to bend to see my toes

people still can't tell if i wear loose clothing - i started out at 5'8" and 176lbs, so a little extra chub is not noticeable on me.

I have to admit that I bought my first pair of maternity pants at about thirteen weeks, but I really wasn't showing much more than what resembled a pot belly I was about 22 weeks before I was into maternity shirts full-time, and probably was officially showing enough to look definitely pregnant at eighteen weeks. It's just amazing to see how differently different women carry their babies!

I don't start showing around 5 mos. as well. I think it will vary from mama to mama. I think I started showing the earliest with my first--but I ate more with him thinking that I needed to. So now that I realize that I need more calories, but not doubly more, and I am way more active now keeping up with 3 little ones, I tend to not pop out till later.

With my girls, I was in maternity clothes at ten weeks. With this baby, it was more like 16-18 weeks before I really was showing.
